Re: Nigeria to honour Late Muda Lawal

He died from an asthma attack. Muda had asthma. He was a class act. When I was at GCI, himself, Goke Adelabu and Moses Otolorin all helped coach us for free on their own time on three separate occasions. I will never forget that.

Re: Rangers/Shooting/NFA conspiracy against Bendel Insurance?

I still say there was a conspiracy. Giving Kadhiri and Adiele an opportunity is an insult. ANC after the opening game and Muda in the knock out stages. While we accomodated Owolabi and Adokiye in an unorthodo dual left wing approach. Ogboe, Agbonifo should have had a shot. Martins Eyo could not clea...

Re: Interview with Raymond King - ex Sooting goalie

The lords, I played Afro in 1982 as well when I captained GCI. I played with Segun Adeyemi (3Sc), Chris and Peter Aghuno, Dele Fashanu, Alan Ball, Ajike and Abideen. Afro thashed us 3-0 in a friendly and we were out to see revenge but lost 1-0 via that controversial darkness goal. I did not play in ...

The World Class Midfield

If the Eagles and SiaOne want to go all the way at he ACN, they need this midfield: Central Midfielders: JM Obi Joel Obi Nosa Igiebor Lukman Haruna Rabiu Ibrahim Wide: Ahmed Musa Victor Moses VON Okoronkwo Four of these guys hold the key to a high pressing, fast fluid, midfield that may be superior ...

Re: OK Mikel is out, what next? FORMATIONS

I prefer Ayo's 4-3-3 in a 4-2-1-2-1: Two wide backs, two central defenders and two holdong midfielders. Two wide forwards and one target man, with Lukman as the counter distributor and backed up by Kalu. ***********************************************************Ideye/Yak****************************...

Re: Ideye Brown replaces Mikel

He is NOT right footed. he is naturally a wide forward. We all know that the Eagles will use a 4-2-3-1 formation. A back four with a sweeper, two holding midfielders as cover, two wide attacking midfielders and an attacking midfielder before the target man. Some may call it an advanced hybrid of the...

How Argentina plays Eagles

I took the liberty of re-watching all Naija vs Argentina matches again. If anyone reads this, please pass this on to the coaching crew. EVERY goal scored by Argentina at U-20, Olympic and World Cup level with the eception of Di Maria's in 2008 was not scored in open play. They were ALL for a set pie...

Experience, does it count?

We mostly agree that even if the tired legs of Agali, Babangida, Oliseh, Finidi and Oruma had gone to Korea, we would have done better than the youthful Ogbeche, Opabunmi and co. That being said, Afolabi, Yobo, Enyeama, kanu, Ejide, Utaka and Osaze were either part of the 23 or alternates for that t...

Re: The myth of Nigeria having no midfield

Well all good points. The key is fast one touch passes and movement that ultimately create mismatches and goal scoring opportunities. Only two of these two pairs can play at a time and even with that, they must have some wide players to spread the wealth. kaita, Ayila, Etuhu and Mikel. Any more than...

Re: Nigeria Final Squad: Pls. lets look @ d players individually

This is like 1994 all over. We needed a spark in central midfield and we put on the second half sub, JJ Okocha. We recalled a defender that had tons of steel and experience, Nwanu then, Robo cop now. Both took the captains place, Keshi then, Yobo today. A goalie became the captain, Rufai then and En...

Some of us forget that in Naija 1999, Robocop was the man and Yobo was his sidekick. Ikedia and Aghawonder were part of that team.

How do you know Lagbaja's style is not cutting edge? :) He may be hjust as good as my paddies who learned to fly a B 737 practicing on Microsoft Flight Simulator. Maybe Lagbaja is a pioneer or genius? Who knows. We will make this determination in two months.
