Well, it happens
Not really. Ever since he came on he was defending poorly. It wasn't so much an accident as it was a pattern. He is either defensively naive or inexperienced

Re: Nigeria vs South Africa (0-0) HT

I think we are lucky to be at parity at half time. From that standpoints South Africa should not be happy. They should have killed the Eagle when it was that weak.

Now Nigeria needs to regroup. Insofar as we can do that, it's water under the bridge. But it must be instant.

Re: Nigeria vs South Africa (0-0) HT

In terms of the attack, Nigeria has a bad habit of letting the defenders sit. Why let them sit? Play the pass when they are still out of position. Don't dwell on the ball. South Africa's press is more effective because they don't sit on the ball.

Re: Nigeria vs South Africa (0-0) HT

This is what I meant by drilled sequences. South Africa'song balls are not speculative. That is pure tactics. The way they deliver their long balls is dangerous. They loft it rather than direct it. Over the defense and the striker times the point of interception. A Nigerian long ball would be hit mo...

Re: SE and Foreign Born Players

Funnily enough I am a strong opposer of the quota system in virtually all circumstances. I think quota systems are almost always a ludicrous idea. I think part of the reason why Nigeria does not succeed is because of quota systems. In Nigeria we DO NOT field our best in various areas. It is very stu...

I don't think the selection indicates anything. Onuachu is probably just the best at holding up the ball. He was brought on ONLY to do that.

Re: Osimhen doubt for SA game

overworked just as I said in the Angola game. Coach afraid to use the bench. Onuachu has not really been intergrated on game day that is....just brought in to 'kill the game'. In fact there was one move that I thought Onauachu could have assisted a goal or even scored himself, but he ran straight to...

Re: SE and Foreign Born Players

By the same rhetoric, as the world moves towards renewable energy sources, Nigeria must stay prehistoric playing with fossil fuels because there’s petroleum in its soils. Nonsense. National representation should be just that, an assembly of a nation’s best representing said nation. If all are born ...

Re: SE and Foreign Born Players

Judging by the way that ANC is responding, this discussion is a bit futile. It is a misdirection. Anyway, I am done discussing it as I don't want people like Tonythetigerkiller snitching that I am causing some sort of disturbance. BUT if people genuinely want me to continue to discuss the issue, I a...

Re: SE and Foreign Born Players

Nigerians are "tribalists" at the core. Another thread about SE and Foreign-born players? That this is being discussed, even if benign, is divisive and in bad taste. Depends HOW you discuss it. Any topic can be prejudicial depending on how you discuss it. I am personally not discussing it...

Re: SE and Foreign Born Players

The point is simple. The NFF should not let this success distract from the work that needs to be done structurally (Which they WILL). They are Nigerians, that is what Nigerians do. Take the easy way out.

Re: SE and Foreign Born Players

Coach I think your argument is a bit of a separate issue. There are two types of exports Nigeria is known for. Type 1) The first is Japa of the middle class and others (economic migrants) Type 2) and then there are the footballing migrants. The issue being discussed here is Type 1, what you are disc...

Re: A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH OSIMEHN

His runs in this game were very poor. But I thought it was down to fitness. Might have a minor injury. There was one move in particular where he looked like he didn't even want to make the run. He stayed behind almost a metre when if he had made the run, it would have been a big chance. Yes that is ...

Re: SE and Foreign Born Players

It's called globalization. We never see natin. In 3 generations, u go begin see blond haired English boys with "Ajayi" as their last name playing for the SE. If Nigeria develops, then the NPFL will be a destination league for even European players. That is only using one tiny part of the ...

Re: SE and Foreign Born Players

This is a very complicated topic. I have read some brilliant articles on the subject, covering both sides of the argument, and I mean VERY sophisticated articles with tons of research, and even those seem to not resolve the issue. From what I can see. There are a multitude of factors at play yet. Th...
