Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

A thorough beat down... We have problems... Before the game, I mentioned to my fellow Liverpool fan/friend that with that line up, we should play 4231 and have Harvey play the 10 and keep the FB back. Harvey and Milner combo in a 433 was too light weight. No fight, no speed. Miller's fight NA gragr...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

That was tough. Thought it wasn't the game to play 2 kids. Fabio was lost. Several times, 5 of our players were lined up at the last line of defense. No one dropping into the 1/2 spaces. As soon as Fabio starts doing that he got injured. I felt it was weird taking off Trent again. Tsimikas, Elliot, ...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

@Yeyeman, Was not convinced by the midfield selection to start, but the real surprise for me was the performance of VVD in defence. Seemed surprised by United's aggressive start... And I still don't understand how the 2nd goal was deemed onside... No choice really. Probably should have played Fabin...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

Just seen the game. United played inspired game. More energy. We need luck with injuries. Milner wasn't bad. Henderson snatching at the ball when all he needs is control the ball. Oh well.

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

Same observation here. Trent was poor. Midfield was pedestrian. Henderson when the option for a pass is not on, cannot carry the ball to save himself. Matip kept making poor outlet passes until one led to penalty. For all we have replaced, it will be hard to replace Mane's energy and pressing. Jota,...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

I thought individually Salah and Thiago were immense. Henderson worked hard even if final delivery was lacking at times. Diaz wasn't at his best but kept helping to prevent overlap from Walker. Our biggest strength has always been our defensive shape. See how the second team does tomorrow. I like th...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

Firmino and Salah will be allowed to run down their contracts. Salah could still sign an extension. If Firmino can stay healthy, will remain a really valuable piece still. Of course still need midfield cover. Thiago and Keita are still bugged by injuries and Henderson is getting older. Jury still ou...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

We need help in midfield. A really good energetic box to box midfielder will help. Hendo, Milner , Tiago getting old and Keita is injury prone.

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

Owning your own destiny is important. The draw against City and then the points dropped against Spurs in the run-in placed Liverpool's destiny in the hands of others. And while "others" almost incredibly almost came through, it was always going to be City's to throw away and they showed t...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

Well done Liverpool. Again. Great team, great season. Diaz has been phenomenal since he arrived. Bl seed to have him. I kept feeling like Origi could have added something in this game and against Spurs. Gives us a new way to play if we are struggling to score last 20 minutes. And get a few starts h...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

An important win. Allison oils have been better off not saving that offside attempt. Any rule that gives you a disadvantage from making a good save should be scrapped. Linesman even had the benefit of the cut of the grass and still got it wrong. Should have flagged as soon as Allison made the save. ...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

I thought Origi in for Mane at 75 minutes would have been a good call. Henderson should always rest at 65 minutes. Can't carry tires Henderson and Fabinho on the field together after 65 minutes in a game like this. Whatever happened to Jota?

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

Serious intensity from Villarreal in 1st. We helped them too with lack of movement and misplaced passes with us not judging the speed of the grass well. Midfield too far apart and slow. All that changed in 2nd 1/2. Diaz gave them enough to worry about and we found the space to pass the ball around. ...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

Professional job done. Should have scored more goals. Big ups to Klopp for managing the squad. Didn't think midfield will do that good. Diaz did more in 30 minutes from the left than he did in 65 from right. We go again Tuesday. Let's go RedMen! YNWA....

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

It's signed. Klopp until 2026 at least. What a time to be a Liverpool fan. Absolutely! The Newcastle game will be quite tough... Yes, I expect so... Probably our toughest league game left. There is enough rest periods between the other games. Good thing is we didn't expend too much energy on Villar...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

I was hoping Everton somehow escape relegation but thinking back on all their antics not just today's game, and their fans hoping City beat them this year and 3 years ago so Liverpool doesn't win, I changed my mind. 3 years ago, they actually had a chance to qualify for champions league! Good riddan...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

Is Keita, Thiago and Fabinho now the starting MF combo for Liverpool? It should be fitness permitting and rotation. Henderson can play 2 positions which means 4 players for 3 midfield places. Jones available too. And of course old man Milner. Ox is out of rotation completely and it will be next sea...

Re: Liverpool - Football Thread

So much City centered analysis especially on US TV. After the game at the Etihad Klopp spoke about the need to improve when the team had possession. That was the difference today, even while recognizing that City was not as fresh as LFC Having Naby and Tiago in midfield helped. And Fabinho and the ...
