Re: I swear, only Amunike would have made today's SE squad.

Wake me up when the current team puts the fear of Moses in an opposing side. The 1994 team almost beat 1990 WC winners Argentina, almost beat eventual finalists Italy and beat semi-finalists Bulgaria.

Re: Fenerbahce Prepare Loan Bid For Iheanacho

Iheanacho unfortunately is not a striker and it is showing. He awaits the right coach that would play him back where he belongs which is in the midfield.

Re: Osimhen as a record signing gives me hope as a Nigerian

Gattuso saw something in the boy. Maybe they are kindred spirits. Gattuso was a battler during his playing days with Milan. Osihmen is a battling striker.

Being successful in Italy is not a given. They have the stingiest defenders. Its not going to be easy for our boy.

Re: The most important players for the SE going forward

Close to World Class players in my opinion are:

Victor Osihmen
Sammy Chukwueze
Wilfred Ndidi

Match Changers

Joe Aribo
Alex Iwobi

The rest are not there.

Re: Musing About the End of the World Cup if Africa wins it.

Chances are that an African team will win it sooner than later. Africa has a massive youth advantage with 30% of kids born in Africa. The interest is there in the youth population by the fanaticism over EPL. An African team winning the World Cup will be no different than when Brazil won it. It is no...

Re: Nigeria vs Argentina Atlanta '96 - Full match

Atlanta 96 team was not as good as the 1994 World Cup team. The 1994 World Cup team had an attack that was ruthless. The best of the Olympic team went to 1998 and got thrashed 4-1 by Denmark. The reason was as Emeka Ezeugo pointed out. The midfield. JJ Okocha was definitely super skilled but he was ...

Re: JJ Okocha slowed our flow at 1994 World Cup – Emeka Ezeu

Ezeugo was 100% right. The Nigerian team of 1994 was an excellently built team that moved the ball swiftly and efficiently forward. Okocha disrupted that by holding on the ball too long and it showed in the game against Italy where our attackers were not sure about when or where to move. But he was ...

Re: Amunike won 7 titles at Barca

:???: Two different type of players. Amunike was a wide attacking player while Finidi was a true winger. I watched a lot of the Ajax games - Finidi is one of the great wingers. His crossing accuracy was incredible and he was balanced both in defence and attack. He would have made any top 5 team fro...

Still a very raw player.

Pluses - Long legs, strength, power, good ball control
Negatives - Average positioning, Not quick

Klopp would more likely seek a backup to mane or Salah than firmino. I suspect Klopp is looking at Adama Traore or Dembele or Chukwueze than Osihmen.

1) Iheanacho would probably be sold by Leicester

2) Chukwueze would probably be sold by Villareal to Chelsea or Liverpool

Mikel could have been so much more. He could have been another Socrates of Brazil who was a midfield general but Mikel settled to play DM and make money. If you want to see how influential Socrates was:
