Re: 10 observations I would like to make of the Ghana game so far

Ghana was a weak team without two key players. The friendly was meaningless.

I want to see Nigeria play a top team. England, France, Colombia, Brazil, Spain.

Re: Third-best team in Africa: Jose Peseiro set new target for Nigeria’s Super Eagles

Paseiro was inspired by the formation Brazil adopted during the 2002 World Cup. They had Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho so they played a 3-4-2-1 by bringing in no-namers like Kleberson and Gilberto Silva to man the central midfield with Roberto Carlos and Cafu flying up and down the wings. Nigeria had...

Amuneke for Coach

Nigeria should reappoint Amuneke coach of the Super Eagles. Out of the crop of ex players he is the most tactically astute and got the best out of Osihmen and Chukwueze.

Re: Iwobis problem

Iwobi was never played as a AM during Afcon. He was plated as CM with heavy defending responsibilities and played his role well. Only those who don't understand the game think he had a bad Afcon. No he wasn't your AM.. No he wasn't a deep playmaker No he wasn't your DM. He was a box to box with def...

Iwobis problem

Iwobi is no pirlo who can't run fast and doesn't defend but whose passes are out of this world. He is no Paul Pogba who played deep for France but could defend, launch counter attacks, pass long and score from distance. Iwobi is an average attacking midfielder that doesn't defend, is not particularl...

Re: Nigeria was found out

what so with 2 hardoworkers in the middle in Onyeka and Iwobi, we still got overran. And your solution is to put Aina/iheanocho and Onyea in the middle. 2 of which are NOT midfielders. wow Iwobi was minus one defending. He is no Paul Pogba when it comes to passing so what value does he add? Iheanac...

Nigeria was found out

Paseiro got it totally wrong and then tried to adjust when it was too late. I said earlier that he should have gone with a 4-3-3. A 4-3-3 would have nullified the threat of Adinkra who basically forced Aina to stay back. There were no surging runs for Aina and it isolated Chukwueze on the right. On ...

Re: Why haven't we seen any through balls for Osimhen?

Osihmen is being marked tightly and playing a conventional 9. Lookman has reaped the benefits because most times it leaves him open. Osihmen has been more successful when he drifts wide to exploit space and drag the defence wide. And Osimehn is the ONLY forward to be marked tightly ? The true great...

Re: 343 WAS A TOTAL BUST TODAY LIKE I SAID

The first half was indeed dire. The fact that they could turn it around in the 2nd speaks to the resilience of the team. We were lucky on this one for sure. They had a great chance in extra time to finish us off. Two things surprised me. How easily they bossed the midfield and how we were unable to...

Re: For the FINALS, how do we approach the formation/tactics?

Nigeria needs to go with 4-3-3. South Africa saw that Nigeria sat deep and defended and pressed from the midfield so they opted to launch floaters to strikers to get between the lines. They positioned Tau next to Ekong who was targeted as the slowest CB and it almost worked. Ivory Coast will be com...

Re: What Manner of Defence is Peseiro Putting Up for Zaidu?

Zaidu offers little going forward. No good crosses, poor linkage with the strikers. Zaidu's main role imho is to shore up the left side midfield especially with defensive sieve Iwobi. He is not really a left back but a left defensive midfielder. Nigeria tends to play a deep defensive structure like ...

They should give away half of the seats in group games by tying it into sponsors products such as drinks, Telco recharge, etc. Fill the stadiums, let the atmosphere be charged up.

Re: Are the Super Eagles of Nigeria good enough to win Afcon 2024?

Morocco and Senegal have the strongest teams. Nigeria has a good attacking lineup but a weak midfield and defence. They also have a weak mentality folding against Tunisia and not seizing the opportunity to qualify against Ghana. They will be lucky to make the semi finals.

Re: LOL @ Amunike - I am not surprised

Without Amunike Osihmen would not be where he is. Amunike selected him for the u17 team against policy. He didn't belong to any great football academy, he didn't have a great agent. Minus Amunike Osihmen would still be hawking pure water in Lagos traffic. See what Osihmen said of Amunike: "He b...

Re: We must figure a way for all 3 starting for the SE

Awoniyi is a poor man's version of Osihmen. Lookman plays better alongside Osihmen. On the other side I would play iheanacho and alternate with chukwueze. I think more important than the front three is the supporting midfield. To me the only guaranteed starter is ndidi. We need fresh options on eith...

Nigerias problem imho is in the midfield. The team is set to play 4-3-3 but we don't have three great midfield players.

Re: Nigerian Players nominated for Ballon D'OR since 1995

The reason imho why the gulf in Nigerian Ballon D'or talent is over 25 years is because for a very brief period from around 1990 - 1998 Nigeria built a formidable national team. A lot of those players went to top clubs were they were visible. Nigeria got that concentration of talent because they sco...

Re: Nigerian Players nominated for Ballon D'OR since 1995

The 1990s players left Nigeria young. Except Finidi all left at age 18 or 19 or 20. No different from Victor Osihmen.
