Re: Manchester United - News, Developments & Season

Squad still seems bloated (especially in AM). Tuanzebe, Pereira, Chong, Pellestri, and Williams have gone out on loan. However that still leaves Fernandes, Pogba, Sancho, Greenwood, Van de Beek, James, Lingard, Mata, and Diallo competing for only 2-3 AM positions...BEFORE Rahford returns to the team...

Re: Karim Adeyemi---Red Bull Salzburg

He scored for Salzburg yesterday in the Champions League. Is he at all interested in playing for Nigeria or is he fully committed to Germany? Salzburg also has two other half Nigerian players in its squad: Chukwubuike Adamu (who was born in Kano and is an Austrian citizen) and Noah Okafor (Swiss mot...

Re: 2020 Super Eagles Depth Chart

Another one to add (for depth) to the LB options: Chima Sean Okoroji of Sandhausen (German league). Born to a Nigerian father and English mother in Germany so he is eligible for all three countries (!). Back-up option but not ready to displace Zaidu Sanusi.

Re: Raphael Onyedika Nwadike has just dumped Celtic out of the Champions League

You are being charitable by comparing them to "a Fulham or a Watford". I suspect their real level is a mid-table Champioship team. The scary thing is that Celtic was the first British team to win the European Cup. They became champions of Europe with a squad where 13 of its 15 players were...

Congrats to Nwadike.

Celtic is allergic to success in the Champions League.

Re: Manchester United - News, Developments & Season

Squad is really bloated now. 3 players have joined during the summer and none left. As it stands if everyone is fit, the team is: DDG AWB-Varane-Maguire-Shaw McTominay-Pogba Bruno Sancho-Cavani-Rashford Subs: Henderson, Bailly, Telles, Fred, Lingard, Martial, Greenwood NOT SELECTED: Heaton, Grant, L...

Re: Manchester United - News, Developments & Season

On paper Varane looks like a good signing. However I am in two minds about him. 40-50 million transfer fee and nearly 2 million a month in wages to a 28 year-old injury-prone defender (we have already had enough of those at the club in recent times with Jones, Bailly, Shaw, Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Tu...

Re: Jay Jay Okocha vs Rapid Wien (9 November 1996)

The crazy things about this game: 1) It was a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE game - yet Okocha was doing tricks like he was having a kickabout in the back garden with his kids. 2) This was the season that Man U lost its unbeaten home record in European competitions (which had stood for 40 years) - to Okocha and U...

Re: Falcons out of the Olympics....

Shocking that they did not know whether or not the away goals rule applied. You would think the match officials would have familiarised themselves with things like the rules before the game started! Drama, controversy as Falcons fail to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympics The Nigeria women national team...

Re: Manchester United - News, Developments & Season

I have been advocating for Man U to sign Ruben Neves for 2 years. Reports are saying that Man U are interested in buying him with the sale price being a very reasonable 35 million. If he signs Man U would have plugged 2 long term holes in their squad this transfer window to replace players that were...

Re: Besiktas agree N2.2 billion deal to sign Chidozie Awazie

Coach - you get time, having the patience to explain these things to them. To them, a player who is not good enough to get into Porto's first team should turn down a move to the Turkish champions (and a club that will be in the Champions League) because it is supposedly beneath him. Of course Awazie...

Re: How did Zambian women qualify for the Olympics?

The "goalkeeping" (it does not deserve the name) in that match was absolutely shocking. I thought the Zambian GK committed an unforgivable error at this level, then a few minutes later the Dutch GK managed to equal her with an equally appalling error (and then compounded it by standing lik...

Tokyo 2020(1) - Olympic Football

Pleasantly surprised by the strength of some of the squads. Bailly and Diallo from Man U will be there for IVC. Also surprised that Spain named 6 of its Euro 2020 squad in its Olympic squad too (including the excellent Pedri, as well as Dani Olmo, Pau Torres, Eric Garcia, Mikel Oyarzabal, and Marco ...

Re: Manchester United - News, Developments & Season

I have lost count of the number of times I have said on this forum that Mark Red is an utter nutcase. He seems to be on a life long mission to keep proving me right. Even by his standards, he took things up a notch. Beating up a security guard after a game and then unhooking a fire extinguisher from...

Re: Iwobi pre season balling with the Aina brothers, Fikayo Tomori & Glen Kamara

I agree Damunk. The young London Naijas have managed to create their own distinct "cool" Afro-European identity. Tellingly, the team of pros had several Nigerians (Iwobi, Tomori, the Aina brothers), and Kamara - who plays for Finland but is of Sierra Leone descent), as did their opposition...

Re: Iwobi pre season balling with the Aina brothers, Fikayo Tomori & Glen Kamara

This game is an excellent demonstration to all those who are fond of referring to EPL and SE players as "wastepipes". The team they played against (Baiteze Squad) is one of the most popular "YouTube teams" in England. Their squad is largely made of semi-professional and ex-pro ac...

Re: If Nigeria Played in the Euros

One of the biggest impediments holding back Nigeria is lack of "game management". A few examples: 1) In the last World Cup, with Argentina needing to score against Nigeria to advance, and Nigeria merely needing a draw to advance at their expense: as the game got into the dying minutes, Mos...

Re: Manchester United - News, Developments & Season

Rumours that United are trying to sign Camavinga. Not sure if it is true or the usual summer transfer BS rumours. If the former - signing the hottest young midfielder in the world, who is only 18yo, and who made his debut for France at age 17 - would be huge. What would that mean for Donny VDB and P...

Re: Manchester United - News, Developments & Season

Man Utd's official Twitter handle has confirmed the Sancho transfer. If the 73 million transfer fee is accurate, then that is an absolute bargain in today's inflated transfer market. They got the best young winger in the world for less money than Maguire (a defender!).

Re: If Nigeria Played in the Euros

No. In fact your Denmark example is the bad example. Denmark are not minnows. Their CD won the Champions League last month, and their GK is a Premier League winner and has played in a Champions League QF. The much talked about Eriksen plays for the Italian champions and has also played in a Champion...
