Re: Afcon 2025 moved to December
The "concern" is overblown. The AFCON usually takes place during the winter break when most European leagues are on recess and the clubs do not have matches. Even the countries that have matches are usually playing cup matches for which clubs usually rest first team players and pick reserv...

Re: Name your SA/Benin squad
Might it also be that putting a European based player on standby means his European club will likely conjure some ojoro and refuse to release him on a few days notice in the middle of preparing for a match or a tour somewhere? But calling up a homebased winger to replace Chukwueze sounds like comple...

Re: Afcon 2025 moved to December
I am actually happy about this as I enjoy listening to English football coaches and fans lose their minds about losing squad players for 3 games every 2 years during which their team plays over 100 matches.

Re: Name your SA/Benin squad
Moffi's in/out status from the team is puzzling. I would actually have him as "third cab on rank" behind the two Victors. Plus he is left footed and has a different playing style to the other contending strikers (eg. faster than Kele and Onuachu, better finisher than Dessers).

Re: The Great AJAX is Back!
Litmanen is a good shout. Then again, which of Cruyff, Van Basten, and Bergkamp (3 all time greats) would one drop to accommodate him? Dont forget jari litmanen. Kanu should be ahead of Patrick IMHO. I watched and followed Ajax in the 90s. Finidi, and Overmars deserves a mention. The list was on poi...

Amazed that Overmars, Neeskens, and Danny Blind did not make the team.

Re: Finidi George's Wages?.....Interesting.
Your 3 below is absolutely wrong (and your 1 and 5 are almost as wrong). Finidi George is not a government employee. FIFA’s rules ban political interference with national football associations. This is why FIFA banned Nigeria 🇳🇬 from its competitions after President Jonathan “dissolved” the team aft...

Re: Finidi George's Wages?.....Interesting.
What on earth does the salary of a University of Maryland employee have to do with the salary of a professional football coach? Do American university professors coach the national football team on weekends? You are comparing apples 🍏 to oranges 🍊. eg. Gareth Southgate and Didier Deschamps d...

Re: Finidi George's Wages?.....Interesting.
Exactly. He missed the first game against Spain 🇪🇸 due to injury, played in the second match against Bulgaria 🇧🇬, then missed the rest of the tournament. When we consider that Kanu was returning from a heart operation and was not match fit, and Yekini was in his mid-30s and unable to play more than ...

Re: Finidi George's Wages?.....Interesting.
It really is confidential. Employment contracts have confidentiality clauses barring the employer and employee from disclosing confidential information about each other. The employee’s salary is probably the most confidential information in the contract. There is a reason why your employer does not ...

Re: Finidi George's Wages?.....Interesting.
I never understand why the press publishes details of someone’s salary. Surely that is confidential information under the contract? The other bit of news that concerns me is Amokachi’s presence in the coaching team. His “analysis” (if gisting like a guy in a bar deserves the name) while commentating...

Re: Manchester United - News, Developments & Season
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have absolutely mugged Manchester United in the transfer market. Madrid convinced Manchester United to pay them £100 million for 2 great, but ageing and broken down warriors in Varane and Casemiro. Meanwhile United sold prime Ronaldo, Beckham, and Van Nistelrooy to Madr...

Re: What Club Should Osimhen Sign For & Why?
There is no such thing as "NHS tax" (I can tell you do not live in England). The cost of living is high in London . £1 million (which is chicken change to an elite professional footballer) would buy a 6 bedroom detached house in the Manchester suburbs. That would not even buy a 1 bedroom f...

Re: What Club Should Osimhen Sign For & Why?
The top rate of tax in England is 45%. Even then it does not apply to a person’s entire income (only to income over £125K). He can still win Afcon and go to the world cup. Mane is in the Saudi league. And he has already won the Seria A. Time to cash in . Also UK is expensive with about 50 percent ta...
