Re: AFCON Taking it To Another Level
This is good stuff. Thanks for sharing Yiperee. AFCON is kicking it up to higher gear.  Quarter and semifinals are usually the best games in a tournament. The final itself is a hit and (more often a) miss game. So after a round of big boy bashing, it is time for the most exciting ph...

Re: Angola
EII: Spot on. Petro de Luanda are actually top of their group in the African Champs league and since four of their starters are in the starting 11, I expect that they'll have cohesion and chemistry. But the quality of the players in the SE are a level higher than Angola. I think this is what will he...

Re: Angola
Seems like half their line-up is from local teams (Petro Luanda and Primero de Agosto). The rest of the squad are from the Portuguese first division. Like the other teams that have a lot of local players, I think they have good team cohesion. But the Eagles should be a class above Angola in this one...

Re: We’re the strongest team left.
Chief, I am talking about player for player. Just look at the players on the side. Their defense is full of players at teams like Monaco, Lyon, Roma, Leverkusen and Forest. Their attack is also stacked with players from Dortmund, Brighton, Fiorentina etc. I think player for player they are at least ...

He had a great WC but I don't think he was a standout player for his club side before that.

I talked about him a few months ago after watching him in the Super Cup final. He has some serious wheels on him and is pretty good with his long distance shots

Re: So Mamelodi Sundowns beat WC semifinalist
Madau is supposedly one of the best right backs in Africa.
Mokoena, their no 4, is no joke though. He should be playing in a top league abroad. But I understand they get paid enough in the S African league

Re: So Mamelodi Sundowns beat WC semifinalist
I think it speaks volumes about the emerging high standard of football in Africa, both at the club and national levels. Morocco missed some chances but they were resoundingly beaten by a team that had eight players from one of the best teams in Africa. We simply can't sweep this under the rug becaus...

So Mamelodi Sundowns beat WC semifinalist
S Africa fielded eight players from Sundowns in their starting lineup vs the our much hyped Moroccan team.
What does this say about the standard of football on the continent?

Re: Did Mane get away with this
It was a straight red for sure. I agree with Dammy that Diallo was a liability for Senegal. Since Pap Gueye was injured, he opted for a 3-4-3 with Diallo playing that libero and no 6 role. But unfortunately Diallo couldn't distribute well which created massive possession problems for Senegal. Cisse ...

Re: The Cameroonian lect back, Nouhou
I've watched Nouhou a lot but the guy was in la la land on Saturday. He was completely lost on the pitch. I mentioned that he had some crucial blocks but those were just a small part of his overall performance. For me, he was a level below the standard required for that level of play. Yujam or whate...

Re: Senegal vs CIV (1-1) Diallo, Kessie. CIV wins on PK
CIV deserved the win. They outplayed Senegal who played a defensive formation after they went ahead. I am a firm believer in making your opponent respect you by attacking them. But a defensive approach will get you in trouble especially with an one goal lead. I tip CIV to win the tournament now. [in...

Re: Senegal vs CIV (1-0) Diallo
The Ivorians haven't created any clear cut chances but they've dominated possession of the ball. If this continues in the second half, they'll score. However, they need to be careful of the counter. The Senegalese have decided to sit back and defend so far but they are certainly capable of tearing t...

Re: Egypt vs DR Congo (0-1)
The Egyptians should stop complaining and whining. They've been doing this for years but with VAR in use, it's far less likely they can get away with as much cheating as they did in the past.

Re: Xavi to Leave Barcelona
Spot on.. Romeu is really poor. Amd to think they let the likes of Kessie go. Poor guy. What is happening at Barca is just bizarre because they've just found creative ways to lose matches. I simply don't get it. Anyway, Xavi has to take responsibility for the bizarre losses I think he's been badly a...
