God forbid, supposing he gets a nasty injury at BOLTON that rules him out for a year, who is going to touch him then?

deanotito, practically something CAN be done. The NFA can request he appear 14 days before the tournament (i.e. 10th Jan) and that is that. Bolton will not be able to select him from that period. Simple.

1naija , I diasgree. No, it's not "better for Martins to return to Inter than sit on the bench in Tunisia hoping someone gets injured or doesn't play well." Imagine if other players took that attitude. Not everyone is guaranteed a game -- are you then suggesting Agali, Ejide, Enakarhire, ...

1naija: Are you saying that Martins didn't beleive he'd be able to make the team? Isn't that up to the coaches to decide? Isn't that the very point of the Faro training camp??

lowzeewee, due to the format of the competition you can have only two from Nigeria, Cameroon, and Egypt.

My four picks:

Mali
Senegal
Cameroon
Nigeria

And I'll add that I like how we're set up to play Egypt in the quarters. Bring it on!

Africana and African Star have stated their opposing cases well. I'll just add that I'm very disppointed that Martins wasn't even bothered to turn up at the training camp in Faro. Don't you think it was presumptious of him to think he'd be guaranteed a place in the squad for Tunisia. After all he's ...

Let us stop this habit of begging players who simply do not want to play for us. Carlton Cole has stated he does NOT want to play for Nigeria. End of story. Nigeria does not need anybody, least of all those who have no desire to don the green and white. I wish him the best.

Nice try Rudeboy but you're reaching. The man said 'pace' not 'ball watching' and I'll assume even Jones knows the difference between the two.

For me the best goal has to be the one which is the most difficult to execute -- the one which would be hard to repeat. So for that reason I would nominate Amo vs. Greece; JJ vs. Cameroon, and Iroha vs. Cote d'Ivoire. My favourite goals though, are Oliseh's against Spain, JJ vs. Cameroon again, and ...
