Re: Nigeria become the top-ranked team in Cote d’Ivoire after South Africa shock Morocco

In this AFCON… 1) All of Africa’s 5 reps at the 2022 Qatar WC (Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana, Cameroon and Senegal) have been bounced… 2) The top 5 FIFA-ranked African teams (Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt) have been knocked out, and…. 3) All 8 Q-finalists from the last AFCON 2021 (B/Faso, E...

Re: Ongoing transformation of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere

It's a start but it is not enough. We will need a proper national stadium in Lagos too. Nigeria is actually falling behind African standards in stadia. We have quantity in terms of stadia but not quality and not enough high capacity stadia. That combined with insecurity and it is no surprise that C...

Re: FALCONETS QUALIFY FOR 2024 U20 WW

Gotti, a few months ago you mentioned a new young Falconet (?). Extremely tall and skilful, you seemed quite excited by her. Is she on this team? If you’re referring to the posts below, she’s on the team (#9)… I think while she shows potential, she’s still behind the likes of Sebastine. Btw, Faith ...

Re: FALCONETS QUALIFY FOR U20 WWC

Why should she be called up? She is already in the Falcons. The U20 is a developmental tournament not a must win. Call up younger players and give them exposure. I don’t think the US thinks of the U20 WC as “a must win” and yet Sophia Smith was in the US’s 2018 U20 WC squad - after being capped at ...

Re: FALCONETS QUALIFY FOR U20 WWC

They have a lot of work to do ahead of the World Cup. I was not impressed with them today. Hopefully the NFF will arrange for the team to have relatively good preparations for the WC.. The team has good players, and if need be Deborah Abiodun and Flourish Sebastine are still age-eligible for this WC.

Re: NPFL 23/24 Season Underway with a brand new broadcasting deal

Good heavens… who said anything about team performance? The fact is you can’t invite home based players to the national team just to fulfill some imaginary quota. There has to be a credible means to determine the suitability of any given player for the national team other than playing in a sub stan...

Re: NPFL 23/24 Season Underway with a brand new broadcasting deal

EII, I believe it is reasonable to insist, except in the glaringly obvious cases of undismissable talent, that they prove themselves in a tournament like U20, WAFU or CHAN. If they are able to hold their own against other home-based African talent then the argument for giving them a more serious lo...

I would bring up similar facts if someone criticised the hiring of Coach K or Bill Self instead of an NBA Coach to be Nigeria's part time Basketball coach. Hopefully, you can make the connection now.
