Another Ojoro: Figo cleared to face Deportivo

Post by Vincent. »

How can they say Figo did not deserve a yellow card for his tackle against Puyol? :?

Figo cleared to face Deportivo

MADRID, April 29 (Reuters) - Real Madrid midfielder Luis Figo will be able to play in this weekend's clash at Deportivo Coruna after Spanish authorities withdrew the red card he was given in Sunday's 2-1 home defeat by Barcelona.

The Portuguese international was sent off by referee Alfonso Perez Burrull after picking up a second booking for a reckless challenge on Barca defender Carles Puyol in the second half of the match against Real's arch-rivals.

The Spanish Football Federation appeals committee decided on Thursday that Figo did not deserve the sanction. Spanish media reported that Real had provided video evidence to support their case.

Real, who lie second in the Primera Liga one point behind leaders Valencia with four games left, will have to make do without central defender Ivan Helguera. He was given an automatic ban after picking up a fifth yellow card.

GEEEZ, exactly which yellow card did he not deserve - the one for mouthing off at the linesman or the red-card offence on Puyol? Virtual evidence! Viva Rich Madrid!!

Did they see thesame match or a different one from us? That tack should have been a straight red card with a three game suspension. The referee was kind enough to give him a second yellow.
