Anybody here remember Nigeria's loss to Gabon in 1989?
It was what stopped us from going to the big dance. Had we won that game, the loss in the final game to Cameroun wouldn't have mattered. Deja Vu all over again???

Yes we do just like we remembered the loss to Liberia and Serria Leone in 2001. Did you say Deja Vu all over again?Thunder wrote:It was what stopped us from going to the big dance. Had we won that game, the loss in the final game to Cameroun wouldn't have mattered. Deja Vu all over again???

One of my uncles told me "mise from the brim". That's quite a nice one.this loss is totally different.
and we still have a lot of games to go
all we lost is one game and people are panicking already.
enroute to usa 94 we lost our second game too so i say its deja vu all over again.
We're not panicking, but also remember, "a stitch in time saves nine"

Wasn't Angola in our group as well for those qualifiers? Remember us drawing 2-2 in Luanda (2 long ranges goals from Keshi and Obiku I think). They came to Lagos and made life difficult as tension mounted and we sadly lost Okwaraji.
Consolation is...we didn't lose the WC place to Angola /Gabon but to Cameroun so game on.
