JAG ON CAMEROUN AND SENEGAL
Aghahowa rates Cameroun, Senegal high
Obafemi Obadare, Faro, Portugal
SUPER Eagles striker, Julius Aghahowa, has rated Cameroun and Senegal as the toughest teams Nigeria would have to get past if they want to win the 24th Nations Cup trophy in Tunisia.
Aghahowa said in an interview at the Super Eagles’ training camp on Saturday that the two teams had good chances of winning the trophy.
Although the Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine striker was optimistic that the Eagles would give a good account of themselves, he said the defending champions and the other Lions were far ahead of Nigeria.
“Our goal remains to bring the Nations Cup trophy back to Nigeria,” said Aghahowa after his first training session with the Eagles. “We’re optimistic that we can do that. The players have been training hard and I’m happy to see a new crop of young players and the experienced ones training together.”
Aghahowa, who trained on his own on Saturday morning because of the break observed by the team ahead of a friendly match on Saturday afternoon with FC Zwolle of the Netherlands, said that for Nigeria to catch up with Cameroon and Senegal, “things have to change.”
