Former Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure coach looks favoured to handle Rangers of Enugu this season.

Daily Independent learnt from Enugu that Akpokona may beat Iwuanyanwu Nationale handler, Alphonsus Dike and Anthony Ukaechu who just returned from Cameroun on a coaching stint to the job which became vacant following Okey Emordi’s move to Enyimba.

Although officials of the club refused to speak on who will eventually clinch the job, the ex-Insurance coach is highly favoured to get the job.

A source close to the club reveal that the coaches are making moves to get the nod of the team as the new season approaches.

“ The three coaches are doing all within their power to clinch the top job. They have sent some people close to the management of the team to solicit for help for them so that they can be considered.

“ They have also presented their credentials to the team officials so that they can get the job after former coach, Okey Emordi resigned to join Enyimba.

“ There are factors that will work for any coach that will eventually coach the team next season. He must be a coach that can work under severe pressure especially as Rangers is not known to spend a lot of money in a season.

“Another factor that the coach would have to contend with is the fact he must not expect his money as and when due, although he would be paid later. “ Then he is expected to maintain the standard already set by the team as they have qualified to play in the continent for the past two seasons. Rangers is a very big club side in the country and for the coach to succeed he must produce result”.

When contacted, Chief Executive Officer of Rangers, Davidson Owumi said that the three coaches are on their list but they have not chosen any of them to tinker the team next season.

“ We are still considering a lot of things, but very soon we will name the new coach for the team. We have to be careful with our choice and I can assure that our new handler will take the team to greater heights,” Owumi summed up.
Remember the three Rs: Respect for your self; Respect for others; Responsibility for all your actions.
