Nigerian World Cup defender Uwa Echiejile has tied up a four-year deal with Portuguese league runners-up Sporting Braga, the club has announced.

The 22-year-old left-back, who formerly played for French club Rennes, signed the contract in South Africa where he was an unused substitute when the Nigerians lost to Argentina in Johannesburg on Saturday in their opening match.
“I have always worked towards playing in the final phase of a World Cup and by signing with Braga, I can fight for a place in the Champions League,” Echiejile said on the club’s website.
