WHEN IS NIGERIA GOING TO HAVE REAL MEGASTAR PLAYER

Post by JACKAL »

When are we going to have an undisputed megastar in our ranks (ala ronaldo)
When are we going to have a player that can win african player awards multiple times (ala Etoo)
When are we going to have a player who can win World footballer of the year award (ala Zidane)
When are we going to have a player who can carry an entire world class clubside on his back ( ala Drogba)
When are we going to have a player who is a world superstar by the time he is 21 years old ( ala Messi)
When are we going to have a player who is a house hold name in every village in the world (ala Maradona)

WHEN ????? :curse:

Keshi said that before the team arrived South Africa that he told skipper Joseph Yobo that the Eagles were going to win the Cup but the former Everton defender did not believe.

Yobo’s problem is easy to analyze. His name is Omeruo. You don’t have to be a genius, just a normal guy like me to understand that we’re talking about frustration. It’s not easy for a player to see how he’s outperformed by a 19 year-old kid, but the kid is fantastic. I had the courage to play him and the problem is very simple.

You must be a very young man. Google my friend or ask around. Re: JJ, since when does the club you play for have to be in top two to be considered world class?

Another 45years. Nigeria requested God to Hand make us one this time as we have always had from factory mass production in the past because we are not patience.

I am young but I do know that Jay-Jay never played for any of the top clubs, closest to top he played for was Frankfurt and he wasn't the main player there, it was Yeboah. The only time he was their main attraction they got relegated.

Again:

Since when does the club you play for determine whether you are world class or not?
Do I have to spell things out for you? JJ singled handedly carried Bolton a well known relegation team to 6th place finish in the EPL.. The day Eto'O carries a relegation team in any league into the top six finish in any league, then I'll really know he can carry that title. If he is that great, why can't he carry the Cameroun National team by himself?

If JJ had played on that Barca team for as long as Eto'O did then we will be singing a different note right now.

Meh...while what he did was incredible he still wasn't that megastar player that the OP was asking about.

I dont know why you even bother.... in the nineties everyone knew Nigeria had bonafide world class icons in Jay Jay & Kanu not to mention Oliseh, Finidi & Amokachi. As far away as Japan they were known... those were the days.

Kanu never carried a team the way Drogba does, hell he even came on as a sub in Ajax's Cl winning final match  JJ might have carried Bolton but they are not a world class team by any stretch of imagination

While i don't agree with the slant against Eto'o and that Okocha single handly carried Bolton (plenty of other top players, including a World Cup winner were in that Bolton team), the reputation and adulation of Okocha shouldn't be underestimated. Just read this recent blog from a Bolton fan: http://equaliserfootball.com/2010/12/20/jay-jay-okocha/

As previously said, Okocha, Kanu, Finidi, Oliseh etc were all practically household names and considered world class. The Super Eagles of the mid/late-nineties were something else and gained Nigeria fans from all across the globe.

Nowadays our biggest "star" is a much maligned defensive midfielder who specialises in sideways passes.

Kanu was that man for me. It is too bad health issues got the better of him.
Man is comfortable in His imperfection but uncomfortable in His perfection. Me. (Inspired by Karol Józef Wojtyła - Crossing the Threshold of Hope)
