Again, Rangers in another transfer saga.....
Not sure what "ethnic disaffection" (see CE conversation link above kick-off link below) some peanut head on this board would ascribe this to. Again, it seems Rangers are conducting themselves in a very unprofessional way and that is rather sad to see.

Warri Wolves vice chairman Alex Amudo has slammed Enugu Rangers for their poor level of professionalism, while confirming the recall of Efe Yarhere from the Nkpokiti camp of the Flying Antelopes.
Rangers signed Yarhere from Wolves since the middle of last season, but the Wolves vice-chairman told KickOffNigeria.com that up till now, the Enugu State-owned club are yet to pay a dime for the player.
"If they have no interest in paying for the players, they should stop trying to sign them," Amudo warned.
"They took Uremu Egbeta and Lazarus Chukwu at the beginning of the season and registered them for continental football. Yet they could not sign these players and they have since returned to Warri," he said.
Amudo disclosed that the striker has since returned to Warri as a result. He went further to criticize Rangers for their unprofessionalism citing the Emmanuel Daniel incident that led to their ouster from the CAF Confederation Cup as an example.
Rangers Media Officer Foster Chime declined to comment when contacted by KickOffNigeria.com.

Yep. This was reported a while back...
It seems that the Enugu govt has not released the promised sign-on funds...
But it is more a govt thing (same thing happened with Heartland) than a Rangers' issue.

Those of us with functional brains can easily read between the lines. This is a clear case of Urhobo people hating on an Igbo-run business.

Dude, he was being sarcastic in response to a bone-headed assertion (see CE conversation link in my original post) by a CE member.Odas wrote:A clear case? This why government should not run football teams. We have enough wealthy people in Nigeria who can run and profit from these teams. This was the case back in the day with the likes of Leventis (Masteroudes family), Iwuanyanwu Nationale and Abiola Babes, to name a few. Look at what the Oyo State government has done to Shooting Stars.Gotti wrote:Aareonakakanfo wrote:Not sure what "ethnic disaffection" (see CE conversation link above kick-off link below) some peanut head on this board would ascribe this to. Re: Again, Rangers in another transfer saga.....
You defeat your own argument with the examples provided. Rangers – a govt-run club is still standing today, while Abiola Babes, Leventis, etc are extinct. Football should not be left to the whims of wealthy people. The most sustainable model for club ownership is not-for-profit organisations owned by the community/fans – most German clubs, Real, Barca, etc.Aareonakakanfo wrote:This why government should not run football teams. How is Rangers "still standing" when they can't even pay ordinary transfer fees? Please explain your logic there, not to mention the mess Heartland, 3SC and many clubs continually find themselves in. Sports is a private enterprise. The government needs to stay the #$%$ out of it. The only role the government need play is provide a conducive "environment" to ensure the enterprise thrives. Abiola and Leventis are extinct because the NFA at the time, frustrated them with their unprofessional disposition (no surprises there) and lack of administrative and structural acumen.cic old boy wrote:You defeat your own argument with the examples provided. Re: Again, Rangers in another transfer saga.....
So a club that has never been relegated from the top flight is not still “standing”? You are standing logic on its head. Heartland would probably not exist today if the Imo State govt did not reacquire it from money-miss-road Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu. The fact remains that the few clubs like Rangers and Sootin that have been around for decades are govt-run, while Abiola Babes, NNB, Leventis, etc disappear without trace. So you should double-check your theory about wealthy families running clubs. What has happened to Abiola’s businesses since his death? If you blame the NFF for Abiola Babes’ demise, who do you blame for Concord newspaper shutting down? Until we have privately-owned clubs lasting 43 years like Rangers, the reality is that govt-owned clubs are the most sustainable model we have in Nigeria.Aareonakakanfo wrote:How is Rangers "still standing" when they can't even pay ordinary transfer fees?
