One of Weger's key players and his former captain Tony Adams does not rate Wenger as a coach. He said that Wenger "couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag" and "is essentially not a coach...coaching wasn't Arsene's strong point."

I personally (subjective) believe he chose not to coach and hence didn't develop that part of his skill to full potential. Rather he hired others to do the coaching.

His legacy shows the importance of management in relation to winning. For example, his greatest rival, Wenger good coach but much poorer manager won considerably less while his teams could arguably played better football. Mourinho on the other hand is both a good coach and manager which made him great in terms of success.

SAF : great manager, poorer coach so hired coaches= lots of success
Wenger, Rickard: great coaches, poorer managers didn't hire managers (limited periods of success)
Mourinho: Great manager, good coach = extremely successful. (If he learns to manage his boards like SAF did he would most likely exceed SAF)

Please move to World Football

In an alternate universe where Moyes kept Ferguson’s coaching staff, and CEO David Gill stayed on for another 1-2 years to stabilise the transition from Ferguson to Moyes, could Moyes have kept the Man Utd juggernaut rolling? Or at least could he have engineered consistent top 4 finishes and made Man Utd competitive enough to slow down City’s dominance and perhaps prevented the City treble we just saw?

Very interesting that most Man Utd fans initially supported Moyes’ appointment as the club’s manager in 2013. This Reddit thread shows their positive reaction to Moyes’ appointment.
