None of them claimed to be the GOAT like Tapinho, who is actually the MOPAT.

If CR7 ends the season as the top scorer in Serie A, will he become the first player in history to be the top scorer in England, Spain, and Italy? Heck, has any other player even been top scorer in 3 of Europe's 5 elite leagues? (England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France)

That's astonishing yet sad for Madrid.

I used to say to my mates that Ronaldo left United with a big void and they didn't replace him well.

That would be some feat man. Especially at that age.

There are other, more important things to think about, though. Results had improved under Solari, overtaking Julen Lopetegui in terms of points gained, but while they won, they didn’t win many over. On one level, at least, that’s not surprising. He arrived 10 weeks into the season, a temporary coach formally made permanent a fortnight later yet never really backed as a fixture, always likely to be the weakest link. While it is forgotten amidst their European success, he also inherited a team that finished third last season, 17 points behind Barcelona. There was a reason Zinedine Zidane left. Lots of them, in fact. And Cristiano Ronaldo departed soon after. Lopetegui lasted 138 days.

I would sincerely love this to turn into an honest appraisal of how the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo CR7 has affected Madrid.

Zidane not that much because managers have always come and gone at Madrid. But I think papa ohsee would love that angle and I'm willing to dabble with that one :rotf:

Chief, what was F. Ronaldo doing in 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12 (OK, RM won La Liga), and 2014/15 when Zidane was not the coachito? Why was he not singlehandedly winning the Champs League for the other managers? :D :taunt:

My guy, the collapse of Real has everything to do with the departure of BOTH Fakeronaldo and the peerless Zizou.

It would. I think the closest anyone else has come to it are Luis Suarez and Ruud Van Nisteelrooy (who were top scorers in Holland, England, and Spain).

Of the currently active strikers who can feasibly emulate Ronaldo - Messi, Lewandowski, Kane, and Aguero would have to move countries twice more in their career to do it. Not likely...
