Sunset and others who have ears in the corridors of the LMC and other professional bodies who manage our football, is it not time to suggest professional referees for the league? The Premier League in England have a system where there is a professional body (jointly funded by contributions from all league clubs and the FA I believe), who pay the referees directly for their involvement if they make the grade.
As we move forward in the task of developing our football, we must ensure that refereeing decisions are not constantly called into question and reduce the influence of home teams over officials. In England, a Premier League ref can earn up to 70,000GBP, if you take in their match allowance and basic pay, which is more than middle class income.
So I wonder, can we not suggest or come up with a proposal for the LMC on how to achieve a better balance for officiating in our local league?
