THE CATERPILLAR.. Can he deliver at Heartland?

Kelechi Emeteole is the new head coach of Heartland FC.

Heartland Football Club of Owerri has appointed Kelechi Emeteole as its head coach.

In a statement from its department on Friday, Heartland’s management, led by Fan Ndubuoke, said after a careful study, it decided to hire Emeteole.

“As part of the on-going effort to reposition the team for the coming season, the management has decided to appoint a ‘seasoned hand,’ coach Kelechi Emeteole the new technical adviser. This appointment is with immediate effect,” the management of the club stated.

It also confirmed the elevation of Ramson Madu as the chief coach, Bob Acholonu as the chief trainer and Mangut Mbwas as the assistant coach of the team.

Heartland said Emeteole’s record and his reputation as one of the big coaches in Nigeria, coupled with his vast experience on the league scene, will help him raise and manage a formidable team that can emerge a winner at the end of the season.

This would be Emeteole’s fifth coaching journey to ‘The’Naze Millionaires’, who he had captained as a player.

Emeteole helped Heartland to the CAF Champions League in 2009, where they lost only on away goal rules to T.P. Mazembe of DR Congo.

He was also the head coach of Heartland in 1985, when they were called Spartans FC of Owerri, and in 1998 and 2001when they were known as Iwuanyanwu Nationale.

In 2012, Emeteole coached El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri to gain promotion back to the Nigeria Premier League.

Jesus didn't die so we could have religion. He died so we could have a deep, intimate, personal relationship with God.
