Absolutely ridiculous. Another Danny Gibson. Garbage, fit for no more than incineration. Given United's need for a centre half, they could do a lot worse than Ron Vlaar aka Roncrete. Suited for the back three and given the state of play, would be a move to a comparatively big club for Ronald.

Daley Blind: Manchester United agree fee with Ajax for defender
By Simon Stone
BBC Sport
Manchester United have agreed a fee with Ajax for versatile Netherlands international Daley Blind.
Blind, 24, was in Louis van Gaal's World Cup squad and can play at left-back and as a defensive midfielder.
...Personal terms are still to be agreed but if the deal does go through he will be United's fifth summer signing.
United have been linked with Blind throughout the summer but Ajax director of football Marc Overmars said he was reluctant to sell him unless the Premier League side met their valuation, reportedly in the region of £14m.

LVG will apparently continue to attempt to force his dumb 3-5-2 on the EPL. It won't work. The league is too damn fast, and the wing backs in this formation will suffer defensively on a consistent basis, regardless of how quick they are. The wingback role is a huge burden on an offensive talent like Di Maria and he was obviously burned out today cos of the systemic constraints. LVG will burn out his welcome shortly too..

@Jimi, The problem is theres not nearly enough passing options in midfield and oceans of space between the front two/three and the slow motioning eight behind them. Clad in this tomfoolery, United lack outlets from defence and inlets to the forwards. The wingbacks are all too easily pressed back by the wingers, allowing the back four to constrict and swamp their frontline. Burnley did this brilliantly. To reap any reward from revolutionary rhetoric, the wheel must turn once more if it is to find fortune. Assuming that be the intention.
The width needs to be further up the field, opposing the fullback as opposed to be suffocated by the wingers. In those more modern 3-5-2s, there is greater movement, in the context of defensive positioning, from the midfield, with one dropping back to complete the back four. If Van Gaal insists upon change, which, correctly implemented, is refreshing and pleasing to the purist, there must be an evolution towards a more modern variant of the back three system. Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico have all utilised a motif which, though genotypically, shares much with the 3-5-2, is phenotypically different and t'is said differences that bring about the intricacy and excitement of their game. Granted Holland used a 3-5-2 and exceeded the former, but lest one forget the arrangement of players and choice of personnel. Robben, a wide man playing inside forward, Blind shifting between a plethora of positions and Van Persie offering more lateral movement than ever seen at Old Trafford. To that add the speed of their counters, the Dutch system was nothing like that failing spectacularly in Old Mancunia.

Van Gaal has already spent (after 4 games in charge) 63% of the total amount of money that Ferguson spent after nearly 27 years in charge.
