Hull boss Steve Bruce wants Shola Ameobi to bolster his squad for next season when the Tigers cope with the challenge a Europa League campaign
Shola Ameobi is on the verge of a move to FA Cup finalists Hull City – because of his European experience.
The Newcastle United striker has not been offered a new deal, and the Championship had appeared to be his next likely destination.
However, Hull boss Steve Bruce wants the 32-year-old to bolster his squad for next season when the Tigers cope with the challenge a Europa League campaign.
Bruce has always been a fan of the Nigerian international and was interested in him last summer.
He sees Ameobi as the ideal man to lead the Hull frontline in Europe given his many experiences at this level.
Alan Pardew all but admitted after the Liverpool game that the veteran had played his last game for the club.
Ameobi would not be short of offers from Championship sides.
However, one more season in the Premier League coupled with European game, would be too tempting to turn down.
