Why don't Africans use the lone striker approach more ?

We..ell in ANC2002 a team called Nigeria played a compact 4-3-2-1 "Xmas tree" formation and their fans hated it. The midfield was not as mobile as your ideal though.

Maybe you have a point, but we beat Mali 3-0 without Mboma now... Plus Etoo is a lot better these days. He had his highest scoring season last year. And this season he has already scored 12 goals this season ( 8 league) which is not bad at all. Maybe you can compare him with Aghahowa? Aiyegbeni? Kanu? Diouf? Mido? Ndlovu? Benni McCarthy? Nomvete? Santos? Jaziri?
Feindouno? Lua Lua?
Niang? Kamara?
Kanoute?
I think only Benni McCarthy and possibly Kanoute have score more goals this season.
