DR CONGO V NGR: 3 THINGS

Post by FATHER TIKO »

1. Oliseh tenure looks bleak
I can't remember any SEagles coach perform so poorly in his first few games.
And I've witnessed all SEagles coaches first few games since 1977.

Usually SEagles managers' tenure is the classic pyramidal trajectory:
Enthusiastic start (every stakeholder is on track; positive results)
A peak (which may/or may not plateau out)
The drop-off (slope of the drop-off depends on the severity of crisis)

Oliseh's start must be the worst ever, which surely raises the odds for a brief spell to his tenure.

2. The team lacks thrust
It is double-jeopardy if:
there is general lack of movement both on/off the ball
there is general poor ball control
Circulate the ball all you want, if the players exhibit below-average ball-control, advance into opposition territory would remain laboured & predictable.
Against DRC, Ighalo was so isolated, the DRC defence were only troubled in few spells.

3. Mikel is the de facto leader
Every coach needs a sergeant on the pitch (doesn't have to be the captain); the player who pulls up the rest of the team during trying moments; who everyone looks to for guidance.
Better still if the sergeant is the player who dictates the tempo; the conductor; "Generalissmo".
At the moment, Oliseh would do well to hug Mikel close. On the evidence of the first few games of Oliseh's tenure, Mikel is the closest the SEagles have to that sergeant.

The team style is rubbish. The team plays too many long balls. The team doesn't execute set pieces well. Too much reliant on speed. Our wide players can't cross the ball. We don't play team defense. The U23 team plays a better brand of football. The team is not cerebral in their play. I just watched Chile vs Brazil. Chile and Brazil players are cerebral in their play. They have good technique. Before you make a pass, look at where you are passing at least. Deliver a decent cross, don't kick it to the stands

Oscar is a lovely player. Where is our Oscar?
Winners do it the right way.

Coach man. There are " no look passes" Some call them positional passess.
IGBOS ARE THE IMPORTANT AND USEFUL SLAVES OF NIGERIA. THEY HAVE A CHOICE TO MAKE.

Any Coach that takes up helm and could still be inviting Mikel Obi to his Squard. Have major issues as a coach. PERIOD It does not matter if he won yesterdays match by 5-0.

Comment: The players of 1977 are no longer available. We have new crops now.

Comment: The Coach could be as good as the players he has to work with. Nigeria as a country has depreciated in facets of being. Look our standard of education for instance. Have ever listened to majority of those they call University Graduates speak or write? They are as Moronic as Munzine my brother here. The coach can only work with what he has. He cannot conjure out 11 Brazilian world Cup winning players to play for us.

Let the search for the true Nigerian Super Eagles continue. We have hope and people, give Oliseh the room and chance to do his job. In Seven years if he does not produce, fire him.

Sunday Oliseh is rebuilding the national team. That is a long term project. For now he needs time and fans need to be patient.

He does not need to rebuild, just like Ke$hi did not need to rebuild. The foundation is there, what he needs to do is renovations.

I would say that close to 70% of the team is already right there staring him in the face. Players he has already used or attempted to call up. Now for that final 30%.

He needs to look at the following

Success
Nacho
Olaitan
Imoh
Lawal
Joel
Esiti
Ogude
Odubajo
Arokoyo
Iorfa
Latifu
Yahaya

What do all of you who posted on this thread think of Oliseh now?
