Oliseh puts the final nail on Finke's coffin

Post by truetalk »

The Plantanians have had enough.

Good that they are giving local coaches a shot, and really good to see Djonkep Bonaventure back in the mix.

Cameroon coach Volke Finke has been dismissed from the job.
The decision was taken by the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) Executive Committee on Friday.
German Finke, 67, had been in charge since May 2013 but suffered poor campaigns at the 2014 World Cup and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Fecafoot announced on its Twitter page that Alexandre Belinga has been appointed interim head coach to be assisted by Djonkep Bonaventure.
The pair are likely to be in charge for the two-legged 2018 World Cup qualifier against Niger on 13 and 17 November.
Once a dominant force in African football, Cameroon have struggled in the past five years and Finke was unable to turn around their fortunes.
At the World Cup in Brazil, Finke's side lost all three games as the team imploded; Alex Song was sent off and team-mates Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Benjamin Moukandjo clashed on the field.
Cameroon appeared to recover when they qualified unbeaten for the Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea a year later but they were eliminated at the first hurdle at the tournament.

That is a big leap isn't it? The team has been bad for a while and it was long coming.

I don't know what took them so long. The guy came bottom at everything. Keeps calling mediocre players. A local coach can not do any worse than him.

So Finke was the problem? Backward football administration. Once the mafia in the government comes to and end, I doubted it will end, then Cameroon can be serious again about football.

Very bad decision by Cameroon. Very bad. Finkeu is the least of Cameroon's problems.
He is not a great coach. But Cameroon doesn't need a great coach. Cameroon needs real leaders of men, from top to bottom, starting with Paul Mbiya

Well this is exactly what I have been clamouring for.

Cameroon can do so much better, with their talent.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

Cameron should have hired Song..
