Not good enough. Must win game and the Spaniard crumbled. Two words. Big. Sam.

solid start by rafa those were two very difficult games
you can see he knows what he is doing
the defence is already solidifying, the fans are on his side unlike maclaren
were mclaren in charge they would have lost todays game
Rafa is the single reason newcastle still has hope of surviving

Rafa can get Newcastle out of jail. He is more cerebral than Newcastle's previous coaches. He saw how Sunderland German Jan Kirchoff kept dispossessing his players of the ball in the central midfield and he switched the ball to the wings from where Newcastle worked out the equaliser. Rafa is very clever. It is the likes of Crystal Palace that should be very worried once Newcastle and Sunderland put a couple of wins together.

Relegation dogfight, 3 games in, sheets as clean as the bed linen in an old people's home.

Rafa has an escape route. He will not be in Newcastle in a couple of months.

That was a very tough '6pointer game' loss for Rafa and Newcastle which left them 6pts in the hole though they've got a game in hand (man city). Their backs are really up against the wall now.

I dont know why he took this job...you cannot go from Madrid to Newcastle ...no matter how desperate!

Maybe he hoped he can survive this season and then hopefully do like what Pochettino is doing at Spurs or Bilic at West Ham.
It was a chance worth taking, especially when you consider there's a big money Tv deal coming into the fold soon.
All he needs now is to survive relegation.

Rafa has been thrown a lifeline...or not
Norwich beating Sunderland - a draw would have been better
If he can beat Swansea, he'll be 3 points away from the dogfight

I don't blame Rafa for taking the job rather i blame Newcastle for waiting so long to appoint him to the job. Big win on the weekend coupled with their favorite 'brothers', Sunderland doing them a favor puts them back in a more hopeful situation. Their midweek game vs City is massive to build on the swansea win.
