Why did AW not sign the contract presented to him in the first place? Because imho Wenger told the Board to agree a deal with its best players - Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil first. From the Boards POV AW's contract is the most important to the club, once the Board have the ink on that they will then decide if Sanchez and Ozil deserve the raises they have asked for and are likely more than happy to as they have done in the past sell them and ask AW to build from scratch again. AW is making a stand on that...AW told BT sport a few weeks back - "I am ready to take this club to the next level", you can't do that without your best players.

It was funny a few weeks ago when AW distanced himself from the club when it came to agreeing terms with Ozil and Sanchez and now we hear of big money contract offers for Sanchez.

Best post I have here on this issue. No surprise about the poster, knows his beans.

Read between the lines people....

Bruv, people have been reading between the lines for years and accurately calling things out. Personally, I'm done with it. I talk to the sources only and if they want to talk, they do. No more time to spend reading between lines, people shouldn't have to.
Years ago, I said Arsenal was a poorly run club and missed the boat big time with the Invincibles. There were huge arguments. Today, it's come full cycle. It's admin wise this club fails. The biggest club in London should be doing far better than this.
I disagree on the poorly run bit. I don't see how that can be true when Arsenal is the most consistent club in the Country, without a doubt the most successful self funded club in England after Man United in the last 20 years.

For the club to do better on the pitch is exactly why AW is taking a stand...this stand-off is necessary for the improvement needed at the club. It is up to you to be done with it, I can only tell you what is going on....and why it will continue to go on.
Well if the rumours are correct and it has come to a head.
Will the Board bend and pay the money?

Hearing rumours the players want more. Things like Image Rights now the contentious issue. Club want control, players do not disagree but want a percentage.

Gibbs is gone if rumours are true. Will the other English/British players will follow?

I disagree on the poorly run bit. I don't see how that can be true when Arsenal is the most consistent club in the Country, without a doubt the most successful self funded club in England after Man United in the last 20 years. This is the bone of contention I have had whenever this issue has come up. Arsenal could have been at the level of a Real Madrid or Barcelona if run better. It's a macro version of the issue that's been pelting the club for years. The question of contentment with top 4 versus being a true force. That's what I mean by poorly run. Maybe I should have phrased it differently. The goals of the ownership are vastly different from those of sporting people. As a financial object, Arsenal is doing very very well. Even this season with all the turmoil,
shares are at record prices.

For the club to do better on the pitch is exactly why AW is taking a stand...this stand-off is necessary for the improvement needed at the club. It is up to you to be done with it, I can only tell you what is going on....and why it will continue to go on. You're reading between the lines though...you don't know for a fact. No one does because Arsene only speaks to his most trusted friends about this and none of them leaks information.

He's far more combative than the two guys at the position now. He'd probably beat both up together if they were ever in a brawl, kid is built like a tank.

Well I guess that's a new breed of player Arsenal need to compete, cold/hot performances, oft injured and tough the few times he is healthy. :D

All players are exposed in similar situ you described above. In your opinion, is he an improvement on Gibbs? For me, the answer is a categorical yes. Will he be as good or better than Monreal at his best? Answer is, nobody knows.

Good news on Kolasinac, we need more power / muscle in this team, he brings that....Schalke fans speak highly of him. I was one of Gibbs biggest fans but as a player he is just too injury prone and passive, I hope this is the start of a clear out of the English boys.

The player just declared on BepandaTV that he will ask to be sold, if Wenger is no longer the coach.
He said he can only play for Wenger, so he can enjoy the freedom and lack of accountability that exists in the squad.
He said his main goal is top4 and CL qualification and look forward to reaching the group stages whenever that happens and be eliminated in the first knockout stage.
He said he has really admired what Arsenal has accomplish in the last 10 years. His idols are Gallas, Clichy, Denilson, Bendtner, ... etc. He grew up watching those guys tear up the EPL. He can't wait to consistently lose games to the Top 6 of the EPL. He just loves Zone Marking, although he has never played it before. And he can't wait to work on defense with Steve Bould ... and all those guys.
I'm sure Arsenal fans love him already. He truly embodies our ideals ... what an amazing player ...

The only thing consistent about Arsenal is it's inability to maximize it's huge potential and win the EPL. On the face of it Arsenal is doing well...for a moderate club. But for a club of it's standing and resources, Arsenal is grossly underachieving.

So what exactly are you saying here? You don't like the player? You don't like the signing? You don't like the news that the player wants Wenger to stay? You don't think we need a left back, or we shouldn't sign any player that wants Wenger to stay?

The new Arsenal coach must be given a chance to sign his own players. Wenger has no business signing players, when he is a lame duck coach.
Because the new player will quickly adopt the same mentality that is currently prevailing at the Emirates.
A loser's mentality, instilled, developed and further encouraged by the current coach: You know the drill ... Top 4 is great. Losing 10-2 to Bayern is no big deal. Failing to mark anyone on corner kick is all right, when we lose it is the referees fault, .... etc.

Here's how it's gonna play out. If Wenger leaves and the player excels, his loyal mongs will give the glory to Wenger for having the foresight to sign him.

However if the player flops they'll blame the new coach for not being able to get the best out of him the way Wenger would've done had he been around. :)
