NFA receives Nations Cup fund

The Ministry of Sports Social Development has said that it has remitted to the Nigeria Football Association all the funds approved by the Federal Government for the ongoing African Nations Cup.
The declaration came on the heels of recent reports that the NFA was threatened by cash problems ahead of the tournament.
Chief Press Secretary to the Minister of Sports, Mr. Charles Chikezie, told our correspondent in Abuja that the NFA had collected every bit of the N187 million approved for the competition.
“You heard when even the Secretary-General stated that he had collected the money. So the ministry had made sure that there was no problem in that area,” he said.
Chikezie noted that the ministry had also assisted the NFA in other areas where the association had called for its support.
According to him, the minister is still ready to entertain further complaints and requests from the NFA, provided they will spur the Super Eagles to victory in Tunisia.
