SHORT SHRIFT Diego Costa pleads with Roman Abramovich to save his Chelsea career… but Blues owner sides with boss Antonio Conte
Striker reportedly not wanted by club asked Russian billionaire to intervene, but culture of relying on him favoured by stars of old has gone

Diego Costa has reportedly pleased with Roman Abramovich for him to stay at the club
But the Mirror claim it fell on the deafest of ears, with the culture of relying on oligarch Abramovich favoured by stars of old has gone.

Keep up to date with ALL the Chelsea news, gossip, transfers and goals on our club page plus fixtures, results and live match commentary

Fomer legends such as John Terry, Petr Cech, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard were perceived to run the show, undermining managers while Abramovich stood by.

But it was the owner’s clear statement that those days are gone and he will allow the managers to do their job, even if it means binning a true goalscorer.

Costa was told he was NOT wanted at Chelsea anymore, the Spain striker’s future at the club up in the air since rowing with Conte over a proposed January move to the Chinese Super League.

In olden days Abramovich was walked over, but now he is letting boss Conte do what he wants
Costa, 28, ended up staying in London and went on to win the Premier League with the Blues.

But, speaking after Spain’s recent 2-2 draw in Colombia, he revealed: “Antonio Conte has told me by message that I will not continue with Chelsea and that’s it.

“My relationship with the coach has been bad this season and it is clear that he does not want me on the team.

Costa, who has two years left on his Stamford Bridge contract, has been linked with a sensational return to Atletico Madrid, who he swapped for Chelsea in 2014.

He is open to a return to his former club, and says he wants to be playing regular matches with the World Cup in just a year's time.

This Costa saga will cause Everton to milk as much money as possible on the Lukaku deal.

Norco read Morata already agreed terms with Man U.

Conte handled this poorly. There must have been a rift with Costa for a while.

As for Costa leaving, I have no issues with it. He got too complacent knowing he had no competition. Appreciate his fight when he is on his game, but too much drama.

As for Lukaku, not worth 100M. I think CFC can get him for 60M-70M. He has made it clear he wants to leave Everton. Does not do Everton any good to keep an unhappy player. Lukaku is a scorer. But agree with G4L. Lukaku's all round game is still lacking. His work rate is not Conte type. I hope he will improve if he comes on board.

CFC will also need a back up striker if Conte does not trust batman

My brother, remember that there are always at least two sides to every story and given all of Diego's utterances subsequent to breaking the news, the best bet is not to rush to conclusions. That said, the obvious issue here is Diego's drama and how much more of said drama the club and especially Conte are willing to swallow notwithstanding his very key contributions towards 2 titles out of the last 3 seasons.

If Conte's intentions are to upset a proven way of doing business that yielded so much fruits for Chelsea over the years, he will lose out. The club is not about to give him the power to turn their transfer policy upside down.

Calm after the storm??

Calciomercato | Chelsea - Conte ieri nuovo incontro: passi in avanti verso il rinnovo

https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com ... w-contract
Last week’s Chelsea “storm” has passed and conditions have returned to “serene” — that’s the latest from Sky Italia (also reported on Gianluca Di Marzio’s website), who were one of the major sources to drive last week’s rumors to the opposite.

They’re now calling those rumors a “cooling of relations due to a misunderstanding about strategy”, but regardless, calm has been restored after a meeting Sunday night between Conte and Granovskaia, the Emperor’s Hand
Conte must have shaken Granovskaia's hand eventually. lol. Not like he had a choice!!

Adama Traore?

Reading Chelsea is about to get this guy. What for? To cut into the chances of the other youth players already on the books of the club?

His decision making is very poor.

It is crazy and silly season. Is the guy really necessary at that price?

It's not my money though!

He is the definition of headless chicken. One minute he dribbles everyone and when he is clear to do the damage, he passes straight to the defender.
