Looks like he'll served a bench warrant once he arrives at Gent. We need him to start playing regularly at gent.
OCCUPY NFF!!
Re: Troost-Ekong Makes Team Of The Season In Norway: Set For
This says he`s past this league. He needs to move to a bigger stage, even bigger than Gent. Everton could do a lot with him right now.

Dutch or French league would do nicely (Ajax, PSV, Lens, Lille or another club where he can play European continental football).

He's English-Nigerian so ultimately he'll probably want to go back to England.wiseone wrote:Dutch or French league would do nicely (Ajax, PSV, Lens, Lille or another club where he can play European continental football).

Fair point. I was thinking more about his career development than his ancestry. I was identifying clubs where he is likely to play regularly and get a competitive standard of football that will elevate his game.

How come none of our centrebacks is playing at the highest level at the moment? We have to ask ourselves what is wrong.
Traditionally, we have always had one top notch centreback playing his trade at the top level:
Stephen Keshi
Chidi Nwanu
Taribo West
Joseph Yobo

Balogun is well respected in Germany. Made team of the week, several times.
"Nigeria", Africas only true hope of bringing the World cup home to motherland.

No mind Ayo.okidoki wrote:Balogun is well respected in Germany. Made team of the week, several times.
Stephen Keshi's career peak was at Anderlecht (Belgium) and Strasbourg in France and Chidi Nwanu's was also at Anderlecht, but he didnt even really get off the bench save for a few times.
Yobo's career peak was at Everton a mid-table EPL team.
Its only Taribo that really made a 'big' team at Inter Milan.
So Balogun at Mainz in Germany is at par with Yobo's and arguably superior to even Keshi's and Nwanu's.

You are forgetting how big a team Anderlecht was in the early 1990s. Do you know that when Keshi was there they got to the Cup Winners Cup final?
Re: Troost-Ekong Makes Team Of The Season In Norway: Set For
I can't tell you how impressed I am with the size of the heart of Troost-Ekong in our defence. But his heading ability is superb as well.
