Nigeria U19s led by Manu Garba lost their third and final match at the Suwon Invitational Tournament in South Korea today.

They were battered 8-1 by England in their opening game, before they lost 1-0 to Iran, meaning they scored only a goal and let in a staggering 12 goals.

They finished rock bottom of the competition.

They have complained about the freezing weather conditions as well as the huge time difference of eight hours ahead of Nigeria.

On Saturday, hosts Korea led 1-0 by half time, before they scored two more goals after the interval.

The team are due back in Nigeria in the new week.

England Under-20s suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of hosts South Korea in their second game of the Continental Cup.
The Young Lions came into the game on the back of an impressive 8-1 victory over Nigeria just 24 hours earlier and head coach Paul Williams named a different starting line-up as a result.

And it had the desired impact as Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria opened the scoring after 14 minutes. with a shot inside the area deflected over the Korean keeper Bumkeun Song. The chance came after a swift move down the right, which ended with a neat back-heel from Dominic Calvert-Lewin into the path of Ejaria, who registered his second goal for England.
That sparked the hosts into life though and Youhyeon Lee levelled things up just after the half-hour mark, before adding his second and a Korean winner in the 70th minute.
England strung some patches of late pressure together in the search for an equaliser, only to be left frustrated in what will be another important experience for the Young Lions before they return to South Korea for next summer’s U20 World Cup.
The third and final game of the Continental Cup sees England face Iran on Saturday.

Nigeria’s U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, suffered their second successive defeat after falling 1-0 to Iran on Thursday at the Suwon U-19 football tournament in South Korea.

The Eaglets who lost their first game 8-1 to England played better throughout the game until Reza Shekari scored Iran’s sole goal in the 78th minute.

Iran had lost 3-1 to South Korea in their opening match and will face England on Saturday in its last match while Nigeria plays South Korea in their last game of the tournament.

The tournament has brought four teams namely, South Korea, Iran, Nigeria and England together. The four-a-side competition is part of the teams’ preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017.

Iran has already booked a place in the competition along with Japan, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam after advancing to the AFC U-19 Championship semi-final in Bahrain.
