Marseille closing in on January transfer for Mikel John Obi

While no one has explicitly confirmed it yet, it seems pretty obvious that this will be Mikel John Obi's final season at Chelsea. The only question now is whether he stays until the summer or he leaves in the winter. Chelsea have supposedly already decided not to offer a new contract and Mikel himself has hinted strongly at developments coming in January.

I suppose the other question is just where he might end up. Over the years, he's been frequently linked with Italy and Turkey, but the latest rumors seem to point more towards the south of France and Marseille specifically.

With his speed and his tactical awareness he is better off heading to Italy

That description of him fits a team like Chelsea. Pun intended.

I also learnt Marseille are also looking at Yaya Toure, but my guess Mikel would be a cheaper Option.. if i were Mikel, i would choose Turkey over France.. But nothing concrete from Turkey.. Also after 2018 World Cup, i would go to China..

We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Marseillle is a decent move, however, I'm hoping he can move to a bigger club than Marseille. He still has about 3-4 solids years left in him at the highest level.

Good move for him. The French league is underrated.

I will prefer a move to Germany or Spain.
Winners do it the right way.

Michael Carrick is 34. Therefore, Manchester United needs Mikel! Nobody should know this better than the pair of Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi will have to take a massive pay-cut if he is to join Marseille.

The Nigeria international will leave Chelsea when his deal expires in June, but is hoping for parity on his current wages.

Le 10 Sport says Obi may've been in contact with OM, but it's unlikely he'll drop his demands from his current €4 million salary.

Instead, the midfielder's future is likely to lay in China

Obi hasn't ruled out leave Chelsea in January, having yet to play for the first team this season.

Reports in France have surfaced that the Nigeria international, who is into his tenth season at Stamford Bridge, is now deemed surplus to requirements by Blues boss Antonio Conte.

Le10Sport have revealed new Marseille boss Rudi Garcia is anxious for reinforcements as he tries to rescue a failing season and the 29-year-old is top of his current shopping list.

There is, however, also reported interest from China where the player would be guaranteed an annual salary of almost £3.4m, matching what he currently earns at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League and four FA Cups with Chelsea.

Bobo needs to get out of Stamford Bridge as soon as possible.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT
