Post by Larry Ashagbe 1 »

Here is the link.

This is a re-union with me and my old school mate Harry Jasper from our school days in Bulgaria.

Harry Jasper came with his son Sylvester Jasper, who is an under 15 player for Fulham FC and also a player for the U16 of the England set up.

Sylvester Jasper is eligible to play for England, Nigeria and Bulgaria (through his mother)

Please Enjoy !!!

Please let's hear your comments.

Here is the full description

This is a re-union with me and my old school mate Harry Jasper from our school days in Bulgaria.

The meeting was at the Nigeria v Senegal on 23rd March 2017 at the Barnet FC stadium (The Hive).

I have not seen Harry Jasper for over 30 years.

Harry Jasper came with his son Slyvester Jasper, who is an under 15 player for Fulham FC and also a player for the U16 of the England set up.

Harry Jasper himself was a football player for the Nigerian team during his days as a student in Bulgaria.

I am sure that a lot of us that studied in Bulgaria fondly remembered Harry Jasper.

Harry Jasper's son (Syvester Jasper) is a much better player than his dad.

Sylvester Jasper is eliible to play for England, Nigeria and Bulgaria (through his mother)

I have also attached/enclosed Sylvester Jasper's picture playing for the England U16 wearing the No. 17 jersey.

I decided to introduce his son Sylvester Jasper to the Nigerian squad after the match to meet the full Nigerian squad and take pictures with the players and hopefully convince him that his international football belongs to Nigeria and no where else.

Slyvester Jasper was able to mingle with the best players that Nigeria has to offer.

If Slyvester Jasper continues to progress in the same progression, then in the next 4-5 years, he will be a grown man and he will be ready to decide his international future.

Football is a cruel business and we have to wait and see what happens.

For the meantime, please enjoys the pictures.

Nigerians are truly everywhere.

Back in those days, the former Socialist Bloc countries granted scholarships to Nigerians (and other Africans), as well as to students from Latin America and the Middle East. People went to Poland, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, etc. Even some "poor" dude ended up in Romania. The vast majority went to the former USSR.

I recalled a lot of my friends left Nigeria in latter part of 70s to go those eastern bloc countries mostly for middle class technical studies. Somehow I ended up seeing a lot of them in US in late 80s and early nineties(90s). I guess their stay in those countries did not work out

"Chief Ogbunigwe",

Long time and how are you?

Sorry to hear about the death of Dr. Gabtigab.

I was not aware of it.

When did he die and do you know his real name?

"Dammy",

He is a winger and I believe a right winger.

If you goggled Sylvester Jasper, there are plenty of materials on him.

Below is a link of him in the group picture wearing jersey No 10, the team is to play in some competition sometime in May

Yeah, because we are high in number, industrious and tenacious, and rarely give-up, no matter the conditions we are faced.

"Chief Ogbunigwe",

Thanks for the updates.

I have put some fillers out to the community of the Bulgarian educated doctors in the US and especially the ones based in TN.

I was also in Nashville, Tennessee last summer 2016.

I am sure that I will get to the bottom of it.

Please send me via PM your number, I would like to speak to you.

Thanks in advance.

Chief Ogbunigwe,

I eventually found out who Dr. Gabriel Udoetuk was.

He was a few years my junior in Bulgaria and he also studied in a different city (Stara Zagora) but I am sure that if he was alive, he would definitely know me.

I was informed that the cause of his death was PE (something to do with blood clot because he has been driving for around 12 hours prior to his death and actually drove himself to A&E and died there).

I was also informed that he was very passionate about football also a good football player and played for the Nigerian team during the student's version of the yearly African Nations Cup that was played in Sofia.

May his soul rest in peace.

Met him, Chief Ogbunigwe and Omey in Chicago many moons ago, I believe summer of 2003 and hung out for July 4 picnic. Very pleasant fellow. I remember we spent some time arguing in his car about Amodu and Onigbinde. lol

Really sad.
