ROHR speaks on NPFL game....

Post by Enugu II »

What he does next is what matters.

The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics

He's currently live on 223 (monday night football) dropping a lot of info. Very knowledgeable and composed. Kudos to Anazado. All his questions have been on point and well prepared.

Green4life just caught the last 5 minutes of the interview. Can you kindly drop the highlights please. Charles is a sound presenter but a bit snobbish.. :boo:

Here's a summary so far from recollection:

1. Odey will get his chance but needs to keep scoring or playing well because those in front of him are 'strong players (meaning more talented attackers) playing at Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal'.
2. Local boys need to shine at the CHAN to further make an impression but in the meantime, his assistants have been monitoring the league. Also in spite of the league being down or not active in November (our last qualifier) he included around 4 local boys to train with the team.
3. Unpaid coaches like Aloy and Yusuf have finally been paid.
4. Asked about Musa being a bench warmer, he said bench warmers are not automatically excluded. He will monitor them in camp. For instance Mikel played well in spite of not playing for chelsea.
5. Said he's not concerned about our boys playing in China and singled out Mikel saying he's in the better situation now than not playing at CFC because he plays every game and even captains the team (also said Mikel scored recently).
6. A fan asked out our weakness in fullbacks. Rohr said that Ola Aina has agreed to play for us. Tyronne from Holland is being worked into the squad. Mentioned other names but I forgot.
7. Said his contract says that if we don't qualify for the WC, he's fired. He has no complaints with that deal.
8. NFF doesn't always cover bills on time leading to some players to pitch in which shows serious commitment.
9. Overage concern is still a problem with our u17 squad having 20 players recently tossed out.
10. He has contacted the president of Germany FA and they agreed to play us in a friendly to occur after the qualifers are done.
11. Chuba Akpom trained with the squad and looked good but he may have to come in gradually.
12. Cameroon has played 8 or 9 games more than us plus won the ANC so they are 'almost like a club now' and are very confident but he's confident that we have enough to overcome them.
13. They asked him about our midfield mix with Ndidi and Etebo plus onazi and Mikel vying for 2 or 3 spots and he says its a good problem to have. Specifically, he was asked about the possibility of Mikel hitting the bench due to playing in China and he effectively said no way. Mikel is playing every game and thus in much better shape now then when he wasn't playing at CFC and still performed very well for the SEs. Also reminded them that China league has many big players so its not as bad as they think it is.

Cheers!

Lol. Stop hating on the brother. At least he showed up prepared. Segun the pundit was weak when asking about Odey. The question he asked was obvious: Odey is the leading scorer therefore he has earned a chance. Come on. How about talk educate Rohr about the qualities Odey brings to the table that the others don't have especially in relation to a tough & physical opposition, Cameroon?

At least he was better than Ikpeba who was very quiet.

Lol. Ironically I prefer Ikpeba over Segun so I was a bit disappointed that he failed to contribute relative to his capability.

Who's Odey? :?
That's the MFM FC striker who is currently leading the NPL on the goals chart with 14 goals from 15 or 16 games.

There is a conflict of interest scenario. Ikpeba is a member of NFF Technical committee.
