USA, Canada & Mexico joint bid to host 2026 World Cup!

Interesting, seems like a good idea, to spread the 48-team World Cup across a whole continent essentially! What do y'all think?

The USA, Canada and Mexico have announced they will launch a historic joint bid to host the 2026 World Cup.

It will be the first tournament after the expansion from 32 teams to 48 and, if successful, it would be the first time a World Cup has been hosted jointly by three countries.

The USA staged the 1994 World Cup, which had the highest average attendance in the tournament's history.

A decision on who will host the tournament will be made in 2020.

That is three years later than originally scheduled because of corruption allegations surrounding the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar.

"The United States, Mexico and Canada have individually demonstrated their exceptional abilities to host world-class events," said US Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati.

"When our nations come together as one, as we will for 2026, there is no question the United States, Mexico and Canada will deliver an experience that will celebrate the game and serve players, supporters and partners alike."

Anyway I have always fancied the idea of Nigerian forming an economic hub with Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

There are some decent developments coming up in Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers and in EG and I suppose Gabon. Although what I had in mind was more of a cultural or tourism hub, I guess this could work for the World Cup.

Maybe in 20-25 years time, if the Gulf of Guinea is calm, militancy is gone etc, we could host it in that region. We could throw in Lagos and Abuja too just for good measure. Hopefully by that time the Cross River Rail is also a reality.

20,25 years could be a MASSIVE difference in our development status, if we reform.

You get eye oooh,Equatorial Guinea is growing fast and closer to Calabar,Soon everyone will be moving to that coast and forget Lagos when you want to enjoy tourism go to Cross River and Akwa Ibom.Good area for investment.
