Efe Ambrose - Scottish Championship player of the month

Post by truetalk »

Hope this helps him get some confidence back. I know I'll take him over Musa Mohammed or Abdullahi Shehu. Extremely versatile and comfortable with the ball. I just won't use him in Central Defence.

Hibs’ defender Efe Ambrose has won the Ladbrokes Championship Player of the Month for March after a string of impressive performances.

The 28 year old joined the at the start of the month on an emergency loan deal from Celtic.

He made his debut in the 2-0 defeat to St Mirren, then delivered three man-of-the-match performances in the matches against Dundee United, Dumbarton and Falkirk.

The Nigerian international opened his account for Hibs in the victory over Falkirk, celebrating with his trademark somersault.

Initially recruited following injuries to Liam Fontaine, Jordon Forster and Paul Hanlon, Ambrose started in central defence then took over from the injured David Gray at right back.

Hibs face Queen of the South at Easter Road on Saturday and could win the title should they take three points and Falkirk fail to beat on-form St Mirren.

Well done to him. Feel bad for him for the loss in form especially after his Barca debacle a while back.
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Well done anyway.

Efe has never had the mentality of a Central Back. I think that is part of the problem. He is versatile enough to be an option there, in the short term, but he is not a 'kill & go' like Oloye dem.

He is very versatile and can play across the back (preferably on either wing) or as a midfielder. He overlaps well, is a very good header (goal threat from corners),has great ball control and passes well.

That is part of the problem though, his instinct/preference is to control the ball, dress/massage it, run into space, or look for an outlet pass. This can be extremely dangerous in Central Defence. Kill & go peeps lik Oloye think safety first. Blast the ball out of danger, unless there is a clear, uncontested forward or sideways pass.

Yes it is, & he is player of the month in his 1st full month there.

Evidence that he is clearly above that level; or what say ye?

You sometimes need that to get your confidence back.

He is a good option at Right back, Left back & serviceable in the mid-field for the Eagles. He can even be an emergency option in the middle of defence. You need such versatility as part of the 23, in my opinion. As I've previously said, I'll take him over Shehu or Musa Mohammed for the Eagles.

I have always rated him highly. To be honest, I will pick him at right back over Omeruo( These 2 are the best defenders we have). I so glad Lennon brought him back. Lennon knows quality.

Lennon was previously coach at Celtic & he coached Efe. I think he actually bought him.

As odd as it is to think of Efe, 2nd div, Scotland and Eagles - I kind of agree with you based on his overall performance with the Eagles. On assumption that he has not regressed, the form I remember of him will make him my first choice today at right back against EVERYONE else that has played that role since his departure. God please not CD for him. We'll have to live with his "sweet toe" per Lennon with his awful floating and errant crosses but he sure likes to be on the ball and join the attack

Scottish second tier is very low, almost Nigerian standard.

Efe would have made for a great DM. He has all the tools to excel at that role.
Bushboy's bushmen : 1.Isaac Success 2. Terem Moffi 3. Victor Boniface 4. Samuel Omorodion. 5. Samson Tijani. 6. Rafiu Durosinmi.
Who will be next?
