DID DSTV STOP LIVE TELECAST OF NPFL?

Has anyone noticed anything like that? It's like it's not even listed in their programme schedule.
TOUCH NOT MY ANOINTED...
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding...hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe

Yes, apparently the NPFL violated some aspects of the agreement.

apparently Supersport are pulling out of their broadcast deal with the NPFL. They were in the 3rd year of a five year deal. Very sad but it must have been a nightmare dealing with the NPFL and I guess they have had enough

Gotti, opportunity don land for us o!

I heard startimes (Chinese cable provider) may have a deal with the NNL. I wonder if they can extend it to the NPFL.

Sad development though. Very many positives from games being on TV.

Just less than a year to the end of the deal, the TV station has pulled out of the deal.
According to SuperSport, the termination was as a result of a breach of contract on the part of the LMC.
Caroline Oghuma, the Public Relations officer of DSTV could not reveal how the LMC breached the contract of their deal.
“It was terminated due to a breach of contract, that’s the official position of the company on this matter,” Oghuma told Pulse Sports.

The General Manager of SuperSport West Africa Felix Awogu also told Pulse Sport that the company have spent an average of N6b annually for the last nine years for both broadcast right and production.
All efforts to know how the LMC breached the contract was not successful as SuperSport insist that it is on the LMC part to reveal that information.

Supersport terminates NPFL broadcast deal

Post by Purity »

South African sports pay television channel Supersport has terminated its broadcast contract with the League Management Company (LMC).

This means Supersport will no longer show live matches of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The development comes weeks after Supersport took a similar decision in Kenya – terminating a ten-year relation with the Kenyan Premier League.

Currently, they only show live matches of the Zambian Super League and the South Africa’s Premier Soccer League.

In 2016, the company, who claimed to be downsizing its operations in Africa for business reasons, ended their union with the Ghanaian Premier League, which another pay television company Star Times have since taken over.

Supersport, who used to hold the TV right of the Nigeria Basketball League, has lost it to Kwese Sports.

There are also dwindling subscription numbers and stiff competition from new entrants like Star Times, Kwese Sports among others.

In August 2013, the LMC secured a four year broadcast deal with Supersport worth $34 million. The contract was to run for four years, between 2015 and 2019.

Following the take-over of the basketball league, Kwese Sports is likely to be the next broadcast right owner of the NPFL.

If it is not viable for DSTV to continue in Nigeria then nothing NFF can do.
