^He needs 9 pairs of legs to do his running. Give him that and he's very capable.

Best team in the league based on what? Surely, Liverpool was on fire early on but then again, City was undeniably the best team in the league after 10 games. So what does that tell us? Not much. But had you looked at the situation closely, even when Liverpool was playing very well, they struggled defensively. You cannot go into every game knowing that you need at least 2 goals to have a chance at 3 pts. City suffered from the same problem as well. Certainly, injuries did hurt Liverpool but had their injuries been limited, they still most likely would have fallen short and finished no higher than 3rd. The bigger difference between the top 2 and Liverpool, et al is they are more consistent defensively, not withstanding that they also manufacture ample goals too.txj wrote:
On top of their game, as we saw before December and before the injuries truly set in, this for me is arguably the best team in the PL this season. Of course, form throughout speaks to Chelsea and Spurs....

Looks like Klopp has been taking man management lessons from Jose. On the plus side, Sturridge would do good things for another EPL team like Spurs or West Ham.

^Bench fodder at Spurs, too lazy for a wide role. Too "big" for West Ham. Has the right injury record to land a contract at Beloved's, failing that, overseas or Everton. Equally too big for Mersey Blue. Ultimately, Klopp has squandered his best attacking threat for want of Heavy Metal, which in truth, is no more than Chesney Hawkes with the bass turned up. Pathetic.

how many minutes would our Danny have lasted at the (old) Britannia against the likes of Kenwyne Jones, Robert Huth and Ryan Shawcross?Coach wrote:^Bench fodder at Spurs, too lazy for a wide role. ^Pulled up a muscle during the warm-up...Rory, Kenwyne, Sidibe. Bygones. Those were the days. Even the rain was wetter and the winter's colder. #GoldenAge

Based on performance when fully fit. Its not about being on fire early; its about staying fit enough to use your first 13-15 players.
How many times did Chelsea play without its top players as compared to other teams?
Consistency in defence is primarily about consistency in line up, in pairing of CDs and MFs in front of them...

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.
We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp
