Emmanuel Fabiyi – Shocked after own fans attack him
Gombe United goalkeeper Emmanuel Fabiyi has said he is full of regret and shock after his team’s fans beat him and he had to be admitted to hospital.

On Wednesday, visiting Rangers forced Gombe United to a 3-3 draw in a rescheduled NPFL fixture.

Angry Gombe fans then attacked Fabiyi after the match after blaming him for “letting in cheap goals and selling the match to Rangers”.

He suffered head injuries, which needed stitches.

A bruised and disappointed Fabiyi lamented to SCORENigeria from his hospital bed in Gombe.

“This is my 20th season in the league during which I have played for 14 different clubs and I have never experienced this kind of thing till now. I am shocked,” he told scorenigeria.com.ng

“I am talking to you from my hospital bed after they beat me up.

“I am very disappointed with everyone at the club. There was no security to protect me from the fans.

“Only the (Gombe)camp commandant has called me and one of my teammates, but three players from Rangers have already called to find out how I am doing.

“I regret that I decided to stay at this club despite the many offers I received to leave.”

He defended his inability to stop the last-gasp equaliser by Rangers.

“The last goal against me was a free kick and we were playing against the breeze, I did everything to stop the ball, but I could not,” said the experienced shot stopper, who has kept six clean sheets this season.

The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics

In an organised country this would be serious issue, fans fighting each other may not be easy to manage but when players are at risk that just means there's no security what so ever!

it is in Gombe; what do you expect. modernity has made some of these places less repulsive.
make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable.

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."
