REPORT: Obinna Nwobodo Heads to Hungary
The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics

Had hoped for a French or Belgian outfit to enable him fully showcase his skills.
Nonetheless, wishing him all the very best.

This must be a desperate move. Honestly I expected better. I guess we will never hear about him again.

Lets hope he doesn't vanish into obscurity. He is a good play with great potential.
Hope he lands a better outfit soonest.

Ujpest Dozsa for those who know European football were once one of the biggest football teams in Europe, parading many of the players that won Olympic gold and got to the 1954 world cup final. Obinna is joining a team with a rich history.
I am happy
Re: REPORT: Obinna Nwobodo Heads to Hungary
...but with below average overall relevance in today's football.

The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not be in want.
Re: REPORT: Obinna Nwobodo Heads to Hungary
I hope Nwobodo reaches his full potential because he was real class.
What I don't know is how much that cruciate ligament rupture took out of his game.
Hopefully, nothing.

He doesn't have the benefit of international exposure accorded by the national teams (age grade or senior). Most players scouted from the Nigerian league start in the lowly leagues of North Africa, Eastern Europe or Scandinavia.Otitokoro wrote:Had hoped for a French or Belgian outfit to enable him fully showcase his skills.

It is really a shame most of our boys we were counting few years ago to emerge as super stars are disappearing into oblivion. One can't successfully predict the future of young stars.
Re: REPORT: Obinna Nwobodo Heads to Hungary
Still better than the Nigerian league. Congratulations and good luck to the guy.bully12 wrote:This must be a desperate move. Honestly I expected better. I guess we will never hear about him again.

Re: REPORT: Obinna Nwobodo Heads to Hungary
That's not entirely correct.
He was a member of the last Nigerian U20 team to win the African U20 Nations Cup.
He got injured in the final against Senegal. Otherwise, he was one of the few shining stars on the squad.

I agree but Nigerians have left Nigeria for more obscure leagues than that of Hungary way before any (known) recession.Gotti wrote:Bro, the recession is real...Eaglezbeak wrote:Anything to get out of Nigeria I guess!

...but a healthy recruiting ground for Bundesliga teams...
Not a bad move. All he needs now is focus on excelling...

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.
We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Good for him. If he does really well it is only a matter of time before he is signed to a better league.

Its a stepping stone. Ifeanyi Mathew is wanted by Anderlect and Club Brugge. I remember folks insulting him for moving to Norway. It took him one year to get noticed, talent can't be hidden guys.
"Nigeria", Africas only true hope of bringing the World cup home to motherland.

Spot on. Hungary 'stopped' playing ball since the 1950's. They've fallen off the map since then. Nonetheless good luck to our boy. Where you start is not as important as where you finish.
