Really need to wait for official word here. Rumours get out of hand in China very quickly and often.

A lot of chatter about Beijing Enterprise's Cheick Tioté being taken to hospital after a medical emergency in training. No official word yet

Cheick Tiote dead: Former Newcastle player collapses during Beijing Enterprises training session, aged 31

Image

The former Newcastle United player Cheick Tioté has died aged 31.

Tioté collapsed during a training session with the Chinese League One side Beijing Enterprises. He was subsequently rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Ivorian moved from Newcastle to play for the Chinese side at the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign. He had previously spent six seasons playing in the Premier League.

Tioté represented his country 52 times and played at both the 2010 and 2014 Fifa World Cups.

His former Newcastle team-mate Demba Ba was one of the first to offer his condolences, tweeting: "May Allah grant you jannah, brother Tioté."

Terrible, terrible news. In as much as observance of custom and culture in such instances honours the deceased, one hopes there is a postmortem to ascertain why. Could this be related to physical exertion in the fasted state? Nutritional depletion? Or nutritional supplements? T'is more than likely a cruel manifesto of a underlying disorder, but everything must be done to under why, which in turn could save others.

Condolences to family and friends of the deceased. Rest peacefully, Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim.

According to reports he died from a heart failure. Foe also died from a heart failure, SAm Okwaraji, A Julius Berger player a while back and one Benfica player.. there are many . Heart disease is the leading cause of death for people of most ethnicities, Don't know why but most black people die from it the most. This is something way beyond us

Sudden Adult Death Syndrome has a known prevelance amongst young, black males. Yet another life cruely taken. How long before sport considers ambulatory cardiac monitoring, reveal devices can be inconspicuous and their findings could bring about significant change in the game. There has to be lobby for such, one hopes CAF and collective federations will put the proposal forward.
