Re: Germany and Cameroon - Contrasts in effective soccer
They have 7 players who didn't have a competitive game under their belt prior to the confeds tourney. Ter Stegen is not a regular, he only has 11 caps. Neuer is their main goalkeeper, Can has 12 caps. Those are hardly regulars in the German national team.malamax wrote:Not entirely true..there are a few regulars in the German squad as in Mustafi,Can,drexter, the keeper and I think one moreplatinum wrote:metalalloy wrote:But this German bunch were also just put together too for the Confeds..Kabalega wrote:The German players have played like that for years. You drill this eficiency into them.
The Cileans have been together for awhile now.
This Cameroon bunch just got together recently for CAN and now CONFEDERATIONS Cup.
Exactly. Germany has been together for two weeks.
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

How about the other games? He was incognito and if he had been relied upon, Cameroon wouldnt have made it out of the group. Very frustrating player!malamax wrote:Really...I thought he scored the winnerThe Goddess wrote:The players do not believe in themselves. Aboubakar did not believe Cameroon could win that game that´s why he could miss such a chance. He is not a game changer. Cameroon won the ANC, inspite of him.Odas wrote:From the games I saw which Cameroon have played so far, I don't see Germany beating Cameroon and if they (Germany) do, it won't be easy for themplatinum wrote:You have expanded on the thoughts I mentioned in the Germany/Chile game thread. Germany has everything that this Cameroon team hasn't got. It could be a very emphatic beating.
One difference, I wasn't as struck about Cameroon's football as you seem to be. They didn't play with any kind of 'flow'.

Cameroon needs to beat Germany by 3 goals which is never gonna happen.Man Ataye wrote:tfco wrote:reminds me of Cameroon v Germany 2002 WC
How the Lions lost that game is a mystery. They balled, but the Germans did the scoring. I was so pissed.
Anyway Cameroon go beat Germany this time
I sincerely hope so.... 1-knot or 2-1 even will send them packing and send them (lions) through...

By 2 goals. Then Cameroon has a 0 GD, while Germany has a -1 GD.bamenda boy wrote:Cameroon needs to beat Germany by 3 goals which is never gonna happen.Man Ataye wrote:tfco wrote:reminds me of Cameroon v Germany 2002 WC

Not true, a 1-0 will suffice. Read the rules.bamenda boy wrote:Cameroon needs to beat Germany by 3 goals which is never gonna happen.Man Ataye wrote:tfco wrote:reminds me of Cameroon v Germany 2002 WC

Are you sure, the visual at the end of their last game said Cameroun had to score 3.The Goddess wrote:Not true, a 1-0 will suffice. Here are the tie-break scenarios for rankings in the groups:
Greatest number of points
Goal difference in all group matches

If two or more of the teams are equal on the basis of the above, the rankings will be determined as follows:
Head-to-head points between the teams concerned
Goal difference in the group matches between the teams concerned
Goals scored in group matches between the teams concerned
Points obtained in fair play conduct (yellow cards = -1, indirect red card = -3, direct red card = -4, yellow card and direct red = -5)

Like I said. They need to win by two goals. Goal differential comes first.
