Ghana and Togo will meet in a friendly this coming weekend as they warm up for impending 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

The local Black Stars will face Togo’s home-based team in a match in Lome on Sunday, 9 July.

The team has been in action in recent friendlies in Accra, defeating Gambia 2-1 and drawing 1-1 with Benin.

Ghana will play Burkina Faso in a two-legged playoff clash set for August 11 & 18, with the winners qualifying for CHAN 2018.

Togo have to go through a more testing route to the finals: they face Benin over two legs on July 14 and 21, and if they win a tie against Nigeria in August awaits.

Last month they were scheduled to have an away clash against their Egyptian counterparts, but the fixture was called off by the North Africans.

The local Black Stars will be coached by James Kwesi Appiah, who agreed to head up the CHAN team when he signed on for a second spell in charge of Ghana earlier this year.

The 2018 CHAN will be held in Kenya from January 11 to February 2.
The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics
