At least Conte can't complain Barkley wasn't a player he requested for:

Ross Barkley: Chelsea to sign Everton midfielder for £15m
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte feels the club have taken a "good opportunity" to sign Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
The 24-year-old is expected to have a medical with the London club on Friday prior to completing a £15m move.
When asked about the deal, Conte told reporters Barkley was a "good prospect" but warned he was recovering from hamstring surgery in August.
"He's very young and has a lot of space for improvement," said Conte. "He is very strong, good technique."
The Chelsea boss added: "He's a good prospect but at the same time, it will be very important to understand, if the player signs, we must have patience to help him recover.
"Don't forget he had a bad injury, a surgery and this player has not played for seven months."
Barkley had hamstring surgery in August, the same month in which he turned down a move to Chelsea on transfer deadline day.
The England international rejected a new deal at Everton and is out of contract at the end of this season, opening the door for a cut-price move.
Celebrations and classic derbies: Play our FA Cup video quiz
Everton manager Sam Allardyce said on Thursday the club had been resigned to losing Barkley for some time.
And now, barring late hitches, he is likely to secure a move to Chelsea.
It will mean the player is leaving Goodison Park after 13 years, having joined Everton as an 11-year-old in 2005.
The academy graduate has played 150 times for Everton in the Premier League, scoring 21 times since making his debut in 2011.

Re: BRIDGENEWS: CHELSEA 2017/2018 SEASON NEWS AND RUMOURS!
Barkley - Hmmmm!!! More of a meh signing with potential to be more positive than negative.
On face value - 15M for a 24 yr old HG player that was once considered a huge talent is not a bad deal in today's market (granted he has 6 months left on his contract) At worst, he will bea decent squad player. In Conte's preferred 3-5-2, He can rotate with Fab or Bakayoko. In place of Baka, Ross will add more potency to the offense with his runs from midfield and better finishing. Can also play behind the Striker. A versatile player in CM and AM..
Just not sure in what shape he is given a 7 month lay off so not expecting much for rest of this season. As for RLC - nothing spoil. This allows RLC to stay on loan longer to get more PT and develop further.
Unfortunately, I don't think Ross is what CFC is missing in MF. CFC need a CM that can create, control passing tempo, and chip in goals. Take Ross & Drinkwater money - and one could pick up a quality CM.

If Ross stays injury-free for some time, I think you guys may have got an absolute steal at 15m. The boy is a very good player. This means you guys can afford to rest Hazard more. Perhaps, Willian may head out?analyzer wrote:Barkley - Hmmmm!!! More of a meh signing with potential to be more positive than negative.

Re: BRIDGENEWS: CHELSEA 2017/2018 SEASON NEWS AND RUMOURS!
Done deal!!
At least he is pumped up. Good luck to him.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42574404
Midfielder Ross Barkley has described his £15m move from Everton to Chelsea as "unbelievable" and "a fresh start".
The England international, 24, has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with last season's Premier League champions.
Barkley, who leaves Everton after 13 years at Goodison Park, has not played for seven months because of a hamstring injury and had surgery in August.
"He's very young and has a lot of space for improvement," said Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
"He's a good prospect but at the same time, it will be very important to understand, if the player signs, we must have patience to help him recover."
Barkley turned down a move to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day in August after rejecting a new deal at Everton and was due to be out of contact in the summer.
He will wear the number eight shirt at Chelsea - previously worn by Frank Lampard and Oscar.
"To be given a fresh start at a new club like Chelsea, it's unbelievable for me," said Barkley, who made his Toffees debut in 2011.
Barkley joined Everton's academy as an 11-year-old in 2005 and played 150 times in the Premier League, scoring 21 goals.
He has 22 caps for England and played at the 2014 World Cup.
At least he is pumped up. Good luck to him.

Verrati will probably cost close to 100M. Vidal closer to 60M due to age lol

Making move is not the wahala. Making the right move is the real issue. Barkley is a low risk move. Only time will tell if it was the right move.balo wrote:analyzer wrote:Welcome to SB Ross and goodluck.

Re: BRIDGENEWS: CHELSEA 2017/2018 SEASON NEWS AND RUMOURS!
Chelsea's period for signing 30 year old players has long expired. On paper it looks like a great deal but it all depends on the player's work ethic and discipline especially during training to pick up the nuances of Conte's schemes. I see him better fitting in a 352 as a rotation / substitute option for fabregas where his fresh legs, drive and unpredictability creates potential to change games.paj wrote:Vidal I hear is available for 35M Eurosanalyzer wrote:Welcome to SB Ross and goodluck.

That said, the player still has a bit of a way to go due to injury lay off and still being a bit unpolished defensively and offensively. Only other question is what does this mean for RLC? It depends on what happens to fabregas next season.
