Former Eagles Defender, Oboabona, Joins Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli

Former Super Eagles and Sunshine Stars centre-back, Godfrey Oboabona on Friday was announced to have transferred to Saudi Arabian club side, Al-Ahli Saudi FC. The announcement emerged from the club’s twitter handle.
He was previously with Turkish side, Caykur Rizespor. The deal with the Jeddah-based side which is with option of a one year extension is for a year in the first instance.
The former Sunshine Stars captain who was also a member of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winning side had been with Caykur Rizespor in the past four years since August 2013.
With the relegation of the club at the end of his contract, he left. He has not been called up to the Super Eagles since the era of late Stephen Keshi as the coach.
