Why does everyone keep saying that. Was Costa on the team when theu struggled 15/16 season. Costa was average at best 2nd half of last season..

CFC's issue goes beyond Costa IMO. Costa's absence will ne least of CFC's problems this season. Need a healthy Hazard back.. Need to sort out the midfield & depth issues in Attack. Also wing back.

You will find out! You simply dont get it yet. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Very useless team. Conte have himself to blame for all this rubbish. See how tin the team is, he prefer Morata for Lukaku, why sell Ake and Challoba, we will struggle this season and the truth is he will either get fired of he resign and its going to be soon.
Lukaku turned you down!

Conte was worried about a Mourinho season - He should be worried about a Ranieri season.

Is it me or did Arsenal not only look tactically but also physically the equal of Chelsea today ... amazing how solid we looked without fairies Ozil and Ramsey in the lineup ... still buzzing over the win

Kolasinac getting a lot of love all over the airwaves ... great start for him and a great boost to his confido

I'd be shocked if it happens

So would I but one would laugh greatly if it happened.

Did Arsenal really win, or were they handed the victory?

The match I saw, Chelsea were better.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

On what parameters is this statement made? Stat don't support you nor the score line.

1st 20 mins or so was Arsenal and rest of the half more of Chelsea. 2nd half ,CHelsea started stronger then Arsenal came into the game. That game is about as evenly matched as any Arsenal V Chelsea game I have seen in the last 2plus years.

Chelsea bottled it. Congrats to Arsenal. They won fair and square.

What of the red card?

I think Chelsea bottled it. yes the game was definitely close, but in pure footballing terms Chelsea slightly edged it.

BTW Balo, I think Morata should have done better with that Willian delivery. That delivery was inch perfect. A World Class striker would score that!

Perhaps difficult for a run of the mill striker to anticipate the spin and volley. I hope Morata is not one of those over-hyped players.

I guess he also hasn't settled. Both Lacazette and Morata didn't look as if they were ready. Still new the league I guess.

Was there any goals scored after the red card that could be attributed to being a man short? If not, then why the question " What of the red card?"? The goal Arsenal scored was a function of well executed free kick coupled with shambolic defending of which Pedro (an offensive player) could not have prevented.

Fact is Arsenal had more clear cut chances, more shot on the opposing goal, more ball possession and were not dominated in anyway. So I repeat my question, What parameters are you using to measure your 'Chelsea was better' statement?
Arsenal V Chelsea
Possession %:54.4 -45.6

Shots
Total shots: 11 - 7
On target: 4 - 4
Off target: 5 - 2
Blocked: 2 - 1

Passes
Passing %: 83.1 - 82.8
Attacking 3rd %: 77.5 - 70.5
Key Passes: 10 - 5

Attack
Clear-Cut Chances: 2 - 1
Crosses %: 17.6 - 0
Dribbles %: 61.1 - 70
Corners: 5 - 4
Offsides: 1 - 4
Recoveries: 62 - 61

Defence
Tackles %: 58.8 - 76.9
Interceptions: 10 - 11
Blocks: 1- 2
Clearances: 24 - 20
Headed Clearances: 11- 10
Aerial Duels %: 54.5 - 45.5
Blocked Crosses: 3- 2

Goalkeeping
Saves: 3 - 3
Catches %: 0 - 100

Discipline
Fouls Committed :8 - 12
Fouls Won: 10 - 8
Yellow Cards:1 - 3
Red Cards: 0- 1

One can look at the stats and conclude Arsenal actually dominated the game, but that's not the full story. But to say Chelsea was the better team is just plain fallacy. Take a look at the defense stats. Does that mean most of the game is played near or around the Chelsea defense? Or can we look at Passes at the 3rd, clear cut chances, key passes or crosses %etc.
