The issue however is not whether it is done elsewhere. There are several examples. However, conflict of interest arises concerning possibility of fixed results.

It's still not okay. Once when Sunshine Stars played its feeder team in the State Challenge Cup final and the feeder team were on the way to winning, they had to 'arrange' for a happenstance such that the feeder team wouldn't end up beating their seniors.

That is the problem right there. Same stuff happened even between two teams from same state in the NPFL -- Sharks & Dolphins.

And if they are both good enough to knock out everyone else and get to the final, more power to them.

Match fixing in Nigerian football has little or nothing to do with feeder teams...
And so long as we misdiagnose our real problems and chase shadows, so long as they persist.

Exactly! At this point in Nigerian football, there should not be an issue...

The primary reason these feeder teams play (and even thrive) in the Cup is the glaring lack of competitive clubs at the state level in many states. One recalls Read Madrid's B team even going further than the Ajax II that you referenced to reach the Copa Del Rey final in the 1980s (where it lost to the main Real Madrid team), and even going on playing in the European Cup Winners Cup the following season. However, as Spanish football developed even further, reserve teams were eventually excluded from the Copa. Accordingly, as Nigerian football develops, it is likely to get to the point that the feeder teams may have their own competition and become ineligible for the Cup. At the moment, however, Nigeria's BEST teams should be eligible for the Cup.

And if they are both good enough to knock out everyone else and get to the final, more power to them.
Kpom. Some people used this COI argument against Serena and Venus Williams - always alleging that their father determined the results of matches between them. No merit whatsoever, provided the owner of the two clubs does not have the power to influence the outcome of the competition, I don't see the COI. Same reason why Abia Warriors and Enyimba both owned by the same body can play in the NPFL.

But the issue is not ability to play in the same competition but ability to influence a particular result.
The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics
