Kelechi Ihenacho is out of the Cameroun encounter
It appears Kelechi needs to see a specialist for his niggling toe issue. Out of Leicester's squad for today. More info to come...
I guess Moses is next

Re: Kelechi Ihenacho is out of the Cameroun encounter
The Kelechi of recent wasn't going to score or do much on the field anyway. He needs time off to regain his form.
Re: Kelechi Ihenacho is out of the Cameroun encounter
Media reports are that Dennis Bonaventure (Club Brugges, BEL) is on standby as a replacement

Good opportunity to create some competition for Nacho... Whoever comes in should take the opportunity to grab the shirt..Let Nacho have to fight to get back in.
Re: Kelechi Ihenacho is out of the Cameroun encounter
I would probably start Onyekeru. Other options to start as central forwards are Ideye, Emenike, or Kayode. Success or Musa haven't seen regular playing time in a while so wouldn't start either. Oshimen and Umar are still a little green, and would like to try Bournaventure in a friendly first.

Wrong time to give players their debut or first call up. Who is this Dennis Bonaventure? You would start Onyekuru in an important world cup qualifier? An inexperienced player with the national team, interesting.
Winners do it the right way.

I think so too. He has been on the bench for so long to make any meaningful impact for SE at this time. It will be interesting to see how the coaching staff handle the dilemmaoscar52 wrote:The Kelechi of recent wasn't going to score or do much on the field anyway. He needs time off to regain his form.

Onyekuru is too small in stature to match up against the bulky plantain boys

It's funny how people are so ready to get rid of Iheanaho from our starting XI when far and away he has been our best goalscorer since he came into the Nigeria system. We should be wishing for good fitness for him and for him to return firing and scoring for the national team.

Nwakaeme looks good from the clip I have seen

I guess Messi would be benched if Argentina played Cameroon.nemi2002 wrote:Onyekuru is too small in stature to match up against the bulky plantain boys
Who were the bulky Chilean players who just beat Cameroon ?

Some of our players hasn't done well in the SE uniform - lately - and Iheanacho is one of themTheHitman47 wrote:It's funny how people are so ready to get rid of Iheanaho from our starting XI when far and away he has been our best goalscorer since he came into the Nigeria system. So he failed to perform in one game so he should get benched? Attitudes like this is why the Super Eagles have had problems qualifying for things.Odas wrote:Some of our players hasn't done well in the SE uniform - lately - and Iheanacho is one of themTheHitman47 wrote:It's funny how people are so ready to get rid of Iheanaho from our starting XI when far and away he has been our best goalscorer since he came into the Nigeria system. Not to mention that poor tactics failed him in the south Africa game. The team played long balls and poor passes to him.
Re: Kelechi Ihenacho is out of the Cameroun encounter
Onyekuru and Anderlecht have had a very poor start to the season - Onyekuru has 0 goals in 4 league games, with him being on the bench for some of those games.
Truth is: Dude has been a shadow of himself and frankly does not deserve a call up at this time.

Re: Kelechi Ihenacho is out of the Cameroun encounter
I think its more than that...
Teams have figured out how to mark him out of the game - he was pretty MIA vs Algeria and most especially South Africa. Playing him as a lone striker in a 433 formation simply is not his forte (this was also painfully evident in the few games he played for Man City under Pep, where he looked isolated for long spells of the game). His lack of fitness is also an issue.
Frankly, him being on the bench might actually help him figure out how he can be a better contributor to the team.

Re: Kelechi Ihenacho is out of the Cameroun encounter
I don't think that would help him at all. I think that it would be better served to see how we can utilize his strengths better. Playing him in a position where he isn't the strongest isn't it. I also don't see any of the other guys we have as better because many of them misfire worse than Iheanacho on a bad day. Playing a 442 or some type of 2 striker formation would work.Otitokoro wrote:I think its more than that...

Iheanacho should be played as a #10.
