so Zambia it is once again

the team that always gives Nigeria a damn good game, outplaying Nigeria on many occasions but never beats Nigeria, we will beat them in Uyo in 3 weeks time..but don't get so comfortable, it will be another of those very close games when we will manage beat them by a typical one lead difference with Zambians even outplaying us and creating dangerous chances on our turf, my biggest consolation however is that our defense lead by General Balogun is more than equal to any Chipolopolo menace, our midfield will have a onerous task dealing with the faster and more mobile Zambians( we should just stick Ndidi and Ogu to dust up their forays, then play Iwobi and Mikel in a more advanced role..what I'm saying in essence? we need a midfield quartet against a very adventurous team like Zambia who are good at retaining possession ), gentlemen...truth is Zambia is peaking at the worst possible time(at least for us) majority of their players are playing in Zesco and Zanaco(two clubs doing very well on the continental stage in CAF championships)..so their chemistry level is top notch...only downside to their team is that they have a weal defense, and there is no way that frail defense marshaled by a dwindling Sunzu will hold out to a rampaging and beastly Vic.Moses, Ighalo, Nacho, Kayode, Onyekuru etc rampage all 90mins, they will chop at least 2-3 goals...but big question is will Nigeria have the mental awareness and focus to keep shape for a grueling 90mins+...? we shall see, and oh we definitely need Enyeama against Zambia, Ezenwa is very good but a minute of unnecessary madness due to adrenaline rush or inexperience on his path can change the whole dynamics of a game.

We have a better team than Zambia.

However, as football has always taught us, the better team does not necessarily triumph.

The worry for the SEagles is our record in the crunch home tie is currently not as impressive as before... (our recent class of players have 'choked' once too often)

Good thing is, any 'horrors' occurring in that penultimate Zambia tie can yet be remedied in the ultimate away tie v Algeria...

I definitely did not expect them to be competing for top billing in the group. What is remarkable is coach Nyirenda has overhauled the side that lost to the SE at home and replaced it with a backbone of Zanaco and Zesco players and a couple of U20 players yet they've managed to beat an Algerian side with some top Euro players.

I do think the SE have a better side on paper than the Zambians. But the Zambians cannot be underestimated. They are young and energetic and this Algeria game has given them the belief they can beat anyone in that group. But if SE go into the game in the right frame of mind, they should be able to win.

what nonsense.

You say that the Zambians are quicker and full of running

then you suggest to start an old and slow John Ogu who is a known card magnet, and who definately will not be able to keep up with fast players and you want to leave our main workhorse Onazi on the bench for Ogu.

Stop smoking crack.

Ogu is not SE material by the way. Not this current SE, if we want an experienced slow player who can offer something in attack, Raheem Lawal is a much better option.

It will be Funny if they beat Nigeria 1-0 and beat Cameroon 7-0 at home. :taunt:

Nothing's changed we have to beat Zambia at home and even we already qualified that would have been the objective!

Well, anything is possible in life, but not the ones you stated. There is no way Zambia can beat Cameroon 7-0 in Lusaka or wherever the game will be played. However, if the scenario as stated happens; that is, we fail to defeat Zambia in our home or get a DRAW - then we don't deserve to go to Russia. Notice I didn't factor-in the possibility we can also beat Algeria in their home.

A draw or a win against Zambia and we are through. Two draws will be the icing in the cake. A draw against Zambia and a win against Algeria, and we are supper.

Fact is that the SE has never had it easy against Zambia. Zambia and Uganda are the classic bogey teams for the SE. However, I believe Nigeria, faced by the situation, will win in Uyo and make the final games all but academic.

You all can huff, puff, speculate, cry, throw up, get hypertension if you want. Compared to your so called super hero 1994 team, this team will set the standard. They will go down as the only Nigerian team to qualify for the Mundial, undefeated while beating three African Champions in the process. You better recognize.

I don't think any team in Africa has done that,I don't think it will happen to any team again unless every African team wins an AFCON!

Cameroun has no shame. They went to Russia for sight seeing and now want to become the butch of all African sides. How many will they concede against Algeria?

Cameroon is not in the best of shape, but they are not Algeria!

Zambia's goals have not exactly been carved out, they have largely come from defensive lapses!

Cameroon can keep goals out! We were just on another level, with our offensive play!

I would be highly surprised if Zambia trashes Cameroon. Most likely it will be a low scoring affair.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT
